When talking to non-fundie Palin supporters, might I suggest using a slippery slope?

"you know, its nice to see a woman, a fresh face on the old codger ticket, but my gosh, she's pretty extreme."

"how is she extreme?"

"she wants to make abortion illegal, even for women who are victims of rape or incest. That's pretty sick"

"yeah, but isn't she a real reformer?"

"well, if you want to reform sex in America. Do you know that people who are extreme against abortion want to outlaw the morning after pill, birth control Pills, the patch, IUDs, Mirena, that Nuva ring thing? They say they cause abortions. And all those infertile couples can kiss in vitro fertilization goodbye. Thats just sad. Republicans like Palin have no compassion"

"What?"

"Well, if you assign full human 'rights' to life, and you legally say that life begins at the moment of conception, anything that causes that 'life' to end is murder. So if a woman has a tubal or ectopic pregnancy, the embryo implants in her tube instead of her uterus, right. Well, you can't remove it, or its murder. So the poor woman has to wait until her fallopian tube bursts and hope she can get to a hospital in time, or both her and the embryo die. And using 6 embryos to try to get an infertile woman pregnant means you are knowingly going to kill some of them - again, that would have to be murder."

"So what was that about birth control pills?"

"See, all those birth control methods I mentioned mostly work to prevent eggs from being released. But sometimes eggs get out anyway, so the companies add other things to make it hard for any eggs that got by to implant and grow into babies. So that 16 cell blastocyst has the same 'right to life' as a grown woman. So they have to be made illegal. They even call the pill and the patch 'abortificants'. They're crazy. We really can't have weirdos like that putting judges on benches."

Don't be shy about it - Sarah Palin wants to control your sex life. Sarah Palin is a weird, freaky, extreme loon, even if she looks normal, and John McCain is kissing up to her to win.

1. I've been depressed all day
I talked with a lifelong friend last night. I don't know what she thought about my views on Palin, but she said she liked McCain.

This woman is very intelligent; she has a Master's degree in Mathematics and taught calculus in college. Her son is an engineer. Her sister and retired math professor brother-in-law are worried about the changes in the Antarctic and Arctic (they just returned from a trip to the Arctic). My friend told me that she won't talk politics with her brother-in-law, so I assume he understands the stakes of this election. I told my friend that her state is so red that her vote won't change the electoral college outcome either way. But I was just sad that she doesn't understand what McCain is really like. I did tell her about his cheating on his wife with several women before dumping the wife for the very rich Cindy. I find it interesting that McCain didn't actually dump the first wife until he found a rich replacement. That's his plan for the economy: sell out to the super rich.

3. That's a GREAT point about ectopic pregnancies. And the birth control.
That's something that MUST be hammered home: it's NOT JUST ABORTION. These people want to end virtually ALL forms of birth control, and return women to subjugation by taking away their right to plan their families as they choose.
