Is America on crack?
Sorry for the headline - I never really intended to make an account for this forum but as I saw the panick some of you were in (the bad polls) I thought I might sign up and send some positiveness your way.

Anyway, that's not the reason for my headline ;)

Reason is that the more I read/watch with Sarah Palin the more scared I get as a citizen of the world.
Okay, we have people like Palin in Denmark too but they'd never get close to ANY power.
Most of them are put in institutions :D
I may be exaggerating but I see Jim Jones madness in her church (as you call it) - here it would be considered a CULT/SECT.
These people are dangerous.

For crying out loud - you had 8 years of Bush-madness and you want to continue with this?
No, I know you won't but to think this could happen is very scary.

I know you're caught up in "a bridge to nowhere" - but please make sure that we're not going to hell/heaven/whatever by electing a nut case who could be in control of the largest nuclear arsenal in the world...

I would like to end on a postive note.
I was in the Tiergarten watching Obama speak - only about 25 metres from him - he was FANTASTIC.

Boy, America and the world are missing out if he doesn't win.

But he will. He's a winner!

And you guys can and will help him win!

Now I will leave you alone - but I will be back if another bad poll is published :D

PEACE

4. Not Crack. It's High Fructose Corn Syrup
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 09:26 PM by BeatleBoot
And I'm dead serious.

Sugar kills. It ruins your body. It kills brain cells.

Sugar overload kills your pancreas and causes diabetes.

It rots your teeth out and makes you fat.

Read the label before you buy.

High Fructose Corn Syrup sucks.

"That shit will make you crazy."

10. Absolutely.
Especially how the agriculture industry makes it sweet.

Bad news man. I won't eat corn chips, corn tortillas, none of that.

I am a big believer in getting that shit off the shelves.

Our nation's youth is being poisoned and they don't know it.

17. The Key to Life is Moderation
Moderation of anything.

I was drinking Gatorade everyday thinking it was healthy for me and I was keeping hydrated.

That stuff is all High Fructose Corn Syrup and water. I was hydrated, but my pants weren't fitting so well after a while, then I read the label and talked to my doctor about it.

I am lucky that I have health care through my employer and I am even luckier that my doctor and I have a great relationship.

11. Did you know that forensic scientist can look at a person's fingernails or hair and tell
with a high degree of accuracy if they are American? It has to do with a protein signature that comes from CORN. Because our cows and chickens are corn fed and there is corn syrup and corn starch and corn blah blah in everything, Americans have a corn protein signature that shows up in our DNA. Creepy, eh?

5. IT'S THE MAD COW
Look the bounce is going to happen the lies are going to be told...at the end of the day we have to smarten up...better yet educate the misinformed. People have to see McCain for what he is....

He's damn near insane...

I just don't think he can control the temper...or his rationale
After what he's been through...It would tear anyone down...and effect them mentally physically and spiritually. 2 out of 3 are common knowledge...I haven't heard much about his religious proclivity
BUT come on...he just spouts off whatever talking point is given to him.

24. "They" won't applaud us ... "they" in fact don't exist
Only the individuals in a country. I'm overlooking my usual annoyance with people associating ALL ethnicity or nationality of any type with one negative stereotype (no matter to which group they belong), but I still say it was a diatribe (largely due to the rather nasty subject line) and his apparent assertion that a board full of Democrats would all agree with the right wing.

Again, I think it would show a lot more gumption if he posted it at Free Republic ... that's the place that can learn a lesson.

If not a downright diatribe, it's damned rude. I would never go over to a board full of Danes and ask them if they were all participating in the Volokh situation. I would consider that rude, just as I consider this.

plebeian. I put America's current situation as due to drunk voting. We don't let people drink and drive. We ought to have a breathalyzer at every polling station.

Insulting? Now, my father often said to me, "Son" he said, "Son, an insult is like a drink. It only affects you if you take it." I think you might be speaking a bit harshly here...and quick to take offense. Just my opinion, of course; but, are you not expressing more concern for your own sensibilities than you hold for another's. I find your attitude somewhat provincial, but certainly not so abhorrent that I would seek to censor your words. I would just encourage you to cultivate empathy.

Blessings.

18. In all seriousness... I think our Constitution is flawed
It's sacrilegious to say it on the DU, but what else can explain the way the U.S. has evolved.

You're right, nutcases like this should not rise to power. Our Constitution treats fiends with as much respect as everyone else in an attempt to give everyone an equal voice. The problem is half the people are assholes, half the people are stupider than the other half, half the people are more scared than the other half, and our government seems to have been split along those lines.

I think Obama and modern Democrats are smart enough to solve this problem, though. If Obama is elected I hope they are smart enough to really change things. Otherwise it will be more of the same. I'm sure I wouldn't be welcome in other countries, so I'll just have to go on living in the split personality of a country.

They've defined themselves. Nationalities are comprised of people who live in a given nation primarily by circumstance.

I used "they" for you as an attempt from using a sexist pronoun since I don't know your gender. But you're really not
interested in truth, just hating on Americans because you need to feel superior to someone.

Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 11:57 PM by barack the house
1 in 4 Americans are evangelical or lean that way. We can overcome it this time but it is something logical thinking Americans must take very very seriously. Now christianity on its own is fine but this is a very extreme version of it, more blue staters must move to red states and highlight the importance of science not to degrade their faith but enhance it.

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/9178374/gods_senator

Over the last six decades, Bredesen has prayed with so many presidents and prime ministers and kings that he can barely remember their names. He's the spiritual father of Pat Robertson, the man behind the preacher's vast media empire. He was one of three pastors who laid hands on Ronald Reagan in 1970 and heard the Pasadena Prophecy: the moment when God told Reagan that he would one day occupy the White House. And he recently dispatched one of his proteges to remind George W. Bush of the divine will -- and evangelical power -- behind his presidency.
