What are Palin's strengths?
She is a mother, but talking about the truth there is off limits.

She comes across as a stand up comedian.

She is a woman, but talking about that is off limits.

What else is there?

3. Evidently she doesn't need anything else
Whatever she says, her base will chant "USA USA" and "Drill Baby Drill" and the press will fawn all over her.

4. she doesn't even come CLOSE to being as good a mother as Hillary Clinton was, or Nancy Pelosi, or
even Laura Bush for Pete's sake!

Where is her humility, after having had a handicapped child and an older daughter pregnant at 17? Any reasonable mother would be sober and reflective about these things, but not her. She is proudly smiling, showing off that nose-wrinkling smirk that in most schoolyards is body language for "I dare you", and stuff like that.

A Down's Syndrome child brings a myriad of problems. Our family has a nephew like that. He is in his 30's, has had three pacemakers implanted, can hardly see anymore, and suffers from being "impacted". If you d on't know what that means, don't ask.

7. Don't you guys think there are too many threads here about Palin & not near enough about McCain?
And, don't you think thats exactly what Republicans want us to do?
The less talk about "Far Gone John" & the more about "Simple Minded Sarah"
the harder this thing is going to be.

8. Sitcom Darling. Memorizes lines well.
She is being marketed as a sitcom darling. She looks like a beloved sitcom character.

Her RNC Convention speech was full of right wing standard punchlines, with pauses for the laugh track, dutifully supplied on cue by the very conservative audience.

She can memorize conservative standard replies to all questions. The quips and paragraphs are standard Republican lines, so her audiences are comfortable and know when to laugh or look serious or get sentimental. Cued up and ready to roll.

She adds spice to campaign events of the boring John Sidney McCain III, Republican humble servant with the $520 loafers and 7 homes. Makes him seem like something new.

10. She's filled with hate
Listening to her talk she's the perfect rethug. She hates liberals, and hates the people that liberal programs try to help. She believes her religious believes make her morally superior and above the normal laws of the country. She has the perfect Bushian snarkiness that belittles liberalism without offering any concert alternative. She's exactly what rethug voters like. A person they can have a beer with while cursing down people that want to try actual solutions to their problems. These are people filled with fear and hate that want a buddy to join in the pain not to help to cure it. For everyone else she has no strengths.

11. For McCain, she has a nice body and a big mouth... for America...
...she has nothing to offer.

And I'm not just saying that because she is on the other side. Any other Republican that McCain could have picked might have been able to offer SOMETHING. If McCain WERE to be elected and then passed away, I'd feel a hundred times more confident in Romney, Ridge or Pawlenty. Hell, even Huckabee is capable of keeping the current status quo policies aflight without screwing up TOO terribly.

But I have zero confidence in Palin. She doesn't have the knowledge or the wisdom to hold the office.

I will always feel like choosing Palin was a political ploy to WIN and had nothing to do with actual governing. This is the message that needs to be pushed. McCain was irresponsible in choosing her. It showed wreckless abandon regarding the stability and security of our country. McCain sais he would rather win a war than lose an election, but I say McCain would rather win an election than protect our country.

My respect in Obama tripled when McCain chose Palin. Obama could have chosen Hillary Clinton, which many think would have guaranteed a win (there are arguments for and against that of course). But instead of picking the person that many thought he should choose to win, he chose someone that he felt he could work with and he felt would be able to take the reigns responsibly if needed. Obama chose Biden because he has our best interests at heart. I think its obvious that John McCain does not.
