You know you are approaching those autmnal years when the songs of your misspent pre-teen years end up on the grocery store PA system. So as I approached the checkout counter (the one with THREE, count 'em THREE magazine covers featuring Sanctimonious Sarah Palin) what should come over the PA but "Barracuda." I'm not joking; one of the boxboys saw my weird little smile--I'm not sure what went on in his mind.

At first, I delighted in the little irony in my 'stay home mommy as political wonk' life. and then--and then--it hit me like a bolt outta the blue*--if THAT'S her theme song there's no need to treat her any different on the campaign trail or the debates. No reason at all to go soft on her. It's a tuff song and the choice of it is to imply that she is tuff, too.

As some mom (had to be) said, you can't have it both ways.

She doesn't actually have to *be* tough in order to earn the deference and respect that the McCain camp informs us are her due.

But I hope somebody in the MSM makes the point you just made right before they lob the tough questions at her... once she comes out of the bunker, that is.
