"Obama still has this shit safely locked up."
Pathetic, Failed Presidential Candidate Barack Obama To Win Presidential Election

"Even though the Internet has already concluded that Barack Obama lost the election after some unknown wingnut vice president lady gave one surly speech last week, we couldn’t help but check out the electoral map anyway, just for kicks. Above is the fun Pollster map, and then you’ve got your FiveThirtyEight map, and this is a good thing to read also. Now play around with this stuff for exactly two minutes, preferably while drinking, and after those two minutes you’ll realize that Barack Obama still has this shit safely locked up."

2. Obama will win.
I mean, this isn't even as close as Kennedy/Nixon. Yet. But Obama will win.

4. I keep hearing that...
Walter Mondale held a 17 percent advantage after the selection Ferraro in 1984.

Anyone suppose the same thing could be about ready to happen?

22. If it happened...
that means Mondale got 17% and mccnuts got 5ish%, and as much as she has pissed me off lately, Sarah Palin is no Geraldine Ferraro!

25. We'd have already seen the first signs of it happening, imo
We went to the best legitimate poll number being +4 for McBush to Obama largely ahead or tied again.

33. You're confusing your elections.
It was Michael Dukakis who held the 17 point lead, but that was before the conventions. After the conventions, Bush was leading consistently.

Mondale got an 11 point bump from the Ferraro selection, but he was so hopelessly behind that it didn't close the gap.

5. Diebold?
I am more worried about the party of Diebold than you are, but www.electoral-vote.com stil has Obama/Biden 50 electoral votes ahead. I am just waiting for Palin to say something really stupid, and for McCain to blow his top.

6. What will Pappy McCain do when he has to face Obama in the debates
all by his lonesome self without Palin being there to hold his hand?

7. My question: Where does McCain go from here?
He has not proven to be capable of sustaining any type of lead in this election cycle thus far. If he can't after the GOP Convention, how does he this month, next month and early November? He can't.

9. My question is...
why are there so many "nattering nabobs of negativism" on DU lately? (no not you) Post something negative about Obama and it flames like a super nova, but post something positive and it sinks like a stone.

I bet these are the same people that like slasher movies, it's more fun to be scared;)

They're even better than comedies.

Life sucks? Cheer up! It could be worse: A homicidal maniac could be chasing you through the woods with a chainsaw. ;-)

13. He goes to Douche Hell, where all Old Douches
go to spend their douchey eternity.

(It's my new thing. Anytime I even use McCain in a sentence when I'm speaking to people, I work the word "douche" or "douchebag" in there, too. It's effective.*)

We're dealing with the reTHUG machine and we all know by now that the reTHUG machine is composed of unscrupulous liars, cheaters, and thieves.

By honest numbers, yes, Obama has this locked up, but we CANNOT TAKE IT FOR GRANTED.

The only thing that will prevent the reTHUGs from stealing this election, too, is an overwhelming, massive tidal wave of determined, informed, prepared voters --

-who have checked their registration status well in advance of their state's deadline and re-registered, if necessary,

-who know in advance the real time and place of voting in their district,

-who know how to avoid, monitor for, and report machine flips and fraud,

-and above all, who won't take no for an answer when faced with inconvenience, intimidation, misdirection, insufficient machines or ballots, and the myriad other obstacles the reTHUG machine will throw at them.

The reTHUGs do NOT want change. They are terrified of a Democratic sweep and will do everything they can think of to stop it.

It's entirely up to US, the voters, to make this happen.

It has to start somewhere
It has to start sometime.
What better place than here,
What better time than now?
All hell can't stop us now!

27. Naive in the extreme
No Democratic candidate for president EVER has it safely locked up. We need to stay sharp, focussed and very aggressive. I am sick and tired of listening to this pie in the sky bullshit for the last 20 damn years. You need to have that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. That feeling that however much your doing it's not enough. So you don't sleep and you keep doing more. Because this is our last chance before our country goes completely down the crapper. Convey confidence, determination and relentless righteousness. But not this bullshit "have another beer! It's all locked up! yuk. yuk."
