So, where is Andrew Sullivan?
There were a couple of threads on this earlier today. Then Sullivan posted that he is fine, just took yesterday off.

But....since then he has posted only two posts. One is a quote: Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muß man schweigen. by Ludwig Josef Johann Wittgenstein (German philosopher). Which, according to an online translator translates to: About which one cannot speak, over it one must be silent.

Did he get fired and he can't talk about it? I'm I too tin foil hatish? I've never seen him do this, not post for two days, without a substitute or saying something! (He said he took yesterday off, not "a couple of days" off. And some right wing site said, with some authority (can we believe anything the right wing says?) that he was fired from Atlantic.

Then, the only other post, besides the odd German quote, was a scene from Desperate Housewives under "Mental Health Break". Its the scene where Bree introduces herself to her neighbors by saying her son stole the garden "gnome" (really a frog) and he needs to be punished.

It's an odd post. An odd mental health break from him. Who is uptight Bree? Who does she want punished.

Anyone know? Any ideas?

1. ...
Thank you for your many emails of concern. For the record, I'm absolutely fine, nothing has changed with this blog, no one is pressuring me to write or not write anything, and I spent part of the day yesterday with my husband soaking up the last moments of summer together.

7. Based on the quote and the odd video posting,
I'd guess that he has been put on a "time out" by the Atlantic until they can decide what to do with him.

Very odd to say the least.

13. He likes the "old-school" Republicans like Reagan, but he hates what the party has become.
He endorsed Bush in 2000 but realized the error of his ways and in 2004 he pushed Kerry (or so says his Wikipedia bio).

He doesn't really cut anyone slack in his columns, but he's been way harder on McCain than Obama.

he doesn't know that or that he didn't try his damndest to make it what it is today.

it is beyond bizarre and hateful to see tha self loathing gay man quoted here.

17. Fine. You can hate on him all you want. I still enjoy his columns.
I suppose it's pointless to point out that he's not a "conservative Republican" in that he does hold some liberal views as well (such as gay rights, for example). If we as liberal Democrats only talk to each other and dismiss the viewpoints of everyone else who doesn't agree with us 100%, then we run the risk of turning into someone like our esteemed Assclown in Chief, GWB.

18. we don't run the risk of turning anything like gwb -- except in the
vivid imaginations of people like you.

if you like his 'columns' so much -- i wish you would pay closer attention to his moralistic rants that paralleled his bare backing activities that ran along side his near religious orgasms regarding clinton's private affairs.

high regard for sullivan is disgusting.

19. he is my favorite blogger, I read him everyday
you have not read him in years (if at all). If you believe people cannot change, or change their minds, why do you even post on message boards?

I have an exceptionally high regard for Sullivan and anyone else who can think for themselves and see past their own bullshit.

You might try it. It is a cornerstone of our party, open mindedness and a tent big enough to listen to ppl when they make sense.

20. you might also like John Cole
at www.balloon-juice.com

He too is very bright and completely pissed off at the GOP. He was a republican until last year when the SCHIP debate (when the right wing went after the 12 year old kid who testified in favor of health care for kids) caused him to change his voter ID. It started for him with Terry Schiavo which he thought outrageous.
