It's pig stickin' time!
Pig sticking is an old blood sport.

The idea is that a guy on horseback chases a wild boar and stabs it with a spear. If the pig squeals, you've scored a hit. The more you hit it the more it squeals and the weaker it gets. Eventually the idea is to wear the pig down and kill it then everyone goes home and has a nice barbacued boar for dinner.

It is a dangerous sport. Wild boars have long tusks that can slash a horse's tendons and eviscerate it. Horses know this instinctively, so the rider has to keep his horse under control and on the attack. Back off and that pig will get your horse--and then he'll get you.

Barack Obama has just scored a hit with his "lipstick on a pig" comment. You know it because the pig is squealing its head off. Now, if he backs off, or apologizes, the pig is going to come at him like a ton of bricks. He has to keep pressing it, stabbing it and waiting for the right moment when he can drive his spear into its heart.

Politics is a blood sport.

3. Real pig sticking is cruel and disgusting.
Political pig sticking gives you the fun without the blood. There aren't too many Democrats who can play the game well. Howard Dean's one of the best.
