Should Obama attack the media?
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 08:08 AM by Phoonzang
It worked for Clinton and McPalin. In the former case they started taking a harder look at Obama and a drop in the polls followed soon after. In the latter, they started kissing Palin's ass and refusing to take a closer look at her past because they were afraid of sexism accusations. If Obama did it would it have the same effect? Or would there be a double standard?

He could go after the media for not doing it's job. He could point out how they allowed Palin to go 2 weeks without a TV interview or appearance on Meet the Press or the like, without putting up a fuss. He could point out how they've refused to go hard after legitimate problems in Palin's past (not her family). He could point out how they're lavishing praise on her and basically calling the election for McCain. He could also point out how they jump on every little word he says, but McPalin can make gaffe after gaffe and never be called on it.

Edit: Before this gets too far...I don't actually think he should do this, I'm just throwing it out there for discussion.

4. No, not directly. It would be political suicide.
I liked someone's suggestion that Biden should say, "I'm available for interviews any time."

6. No
Attacking the media isn't going to help.

He does need to respond more aggressively though.
Watching the current spectacle I keep thinking about Kerry in 04...
"taking the high road" in relation to lies being spread didn't work out so well then and I don't think it will now.

7. No he should attack Bush/McCain and the last 8 years.
He should pretty much leave Sara Palin to the National Enquirer.

8. the new McCain ad is a perfect example
they very blatantly used a quote from him completely out of context.
He should aggressively respond by talking to the media and clearly explaining the correct context.
The media will listen and will run with it... they want a back and forth ... it's good for business.

This is the 08 swiftboating and he has to respond unless he want the same fate as Kerry 04
