Here's the answer: ATTACK!-It's time to grab our baseball bats & meet them in the center of street

The campaign has reached the non-reality based stage:
........................
"The more the New York Times and The Washington Post go after Sarah Palin, the better off she is, because there's a bigger truth out there and the bigger truths are she's new, she's popular in Alaska and she is an insurgent," Feehery said. "As long as those are out there, these little facts don't really matter."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/09/AR2008090903727.html

'The bigger truth' is the narrative that the Republicans want to tell, and the facts are unimportant to their task. They don't care...they explicitly don't care, that the major newspapers and cable news programs are calling them liars. They even are so bold as to argue that getting called liars by the media helps them.

........................

The Obama campaign in on their heels right now because they are not sure how to deal with an unqualified female candidate that is spewing lies like she's an assembly line. Here's the answer: attack.

I just watched part of a McCain-Palin rally on CNN. They are still joined at the hip. Palin is still spewing bullshit. It's weak, but at the same time they are very, very aggressive. That aggression needs to be met head-on. Paging Joe Biden.

On a different note, the McCain-Palin rallies have a distinctly Nationalist Front feel to them. They have the 'COUNTRY FIRST' signs in the backdrop and the crowds chant 'USA, USA, USA' at inappropriate times. The whole scene has the whiff of gas chambers about it. At the very least, it seems a more appropriate setting for a gathering of skinheads than fat, old, white people.

It's time to take the gloves off. The McCain campaign has explicitly moved on to a new phase in the campaign where the facts don't matter. In such an environment it would be irresponsible not to speculate about all kinds of things that sully the reputation of McCain and Palin. I know that my usual standards will drop for the remainder of this campaign. I am not coming to a gunfight armed with just a knife. If they want to appeal to White Nationalist sympathies and send out their Georgian thugs to scream overtly racist shit into the airwaves, then it's time to grab our baseball bats and meet them in the center of the street.

We're in the home stretch, and some kneecaps are going to get shattered.

4. K&R
I totally agree! The McCain campaign zeroed in on Obama's weakness as a candidate: his need to run a "clean, respectful" campaign allows the repukes to kidney punch him over and over again. After a while, people don't see Obama's desire to elevate the discussion as a sign of strength, but of weakness. See "Kerry 2004" for more details on this.

Obama's need to have a mature, respectful campaign is absolutely seen as weakness by the republicans, and they know how to exploit it.

6. I'll grab a bat from the Dbacks...
They aren't using them for anything any way.

hmmm.... on second thought, that may not be a good idea. Those bats don't seem to be able to make contact with anything. :(

7. YES! There should be MARCHES ON THE STREETS in every State every day till elections
We can't wait till they steel it to call for demonstrations.

That is the only way to reduce the impact of these GIMICKS that the Rethugs are so good at.

Voters have to see how scarey she is - a danger in the White House, the way people felt about Goldwater. And what is she trying to hide by not taking questions? Why? Is she hiding incompetence? Something worse? If not, what? If it's in the campaign's interest, then why is it? It comes back to the same thing.

They're almost trying to say "trust me" on her. Oh, she supports all of McC's policies, you don't need to check her out for yourself. Bullshit. Why?

And lying doesn't go with being a Christian. Sorry, it doesn't. She's a fraud. And it stays bad from there. Lying matters, especially for someone running on character as a Christian - and yes, she is - that's her appeal to the base, it's the reason she was chosen. If she's willing to be a fraud on that to win, she has no scruples at all and would do anything anytime.

People need some help imagining the possible scenarios, like the 3 am phone call, and little dopey Sarah's in charge. I really can't see how people can vote for McC because they're scared, but with a VP like that with a 1 in 3 chance of succeeding him before his term's out. WTF?

Given all the dubious things she's done, already in her thin career, she's a dealbreaker. She's a pageant queen and a sportscaster, who was given a plum job as a reward and away she went up the ladder. No substance. No impressive background like O has. And lots of vindictive abuse of office incidents behind her, including a current one. On October 10th the AK report comes out. I think it's going to show she's no straightforward reformer.

11. Instead of physically beating human beings with baseball bats, let's put them to better use
Smash every goddamn Diebold/Sequoia/ES&S machine on the planet, and force them to use real ballots in every precinct, in every state.

12. someone's good post:
"But only if they KNOW about the hypocrisy. Which many don't. People with two or three jobs, or mortgage or rent problems, or 'where am I gonna get food money today' anxiety may or may not get five minutes of news a day. Some overhear what's going on. The media, for the most part, repeats McCain's lies like stenographers, at least for the first couple news cycles, and by that point, you're trying to unscramble an egg; working people, your people, already are thinking the 'elitist' is acting elite again.

It's time to JUMP on this guy and his toilet politics immediately after he lies. You do that, you can turn turds into boomerangs.

And be specific. Use facts. Use analogies. For example, IMO, what McCain's doing with these lies is a form of fraud. He's feeding people false information for the purpose of cheating them out of their votes. In any other context--business, banking, sales--he'd be liable for damages, if not arrest. I mean, what's the difference between what McCain's doing and what the predatory lenders did to facilitate profits at the expense of poor people?

Make the case man. You have fabulous facts. This is an argument that can only be lost if you appear to have wimped out. And doing it right could well be a permanent game changer.

Which type headline would you rather see tomorrow? MCCAIN CALLS OBAMA SEXIST or OBAMA TAKES NO CRAP FROM ANYONE."
