Everytime I have posted this on DU, it has dropped like a stone, but this post is IMPORTANT, so I will try again. PLEASE
KICK & RECOMMEND & DO THIS FOLLOWING SIMPLE ACTION:

The front page of DU features some of the best political response videos & ads on the net. These videos are from youtube. MANY of the BEST videos debunking John McCain & promoting Obama never will be seen except here on DU because people do not do the simple action of ratings the video on youtube. IF DU RATED ALL THE IMPORTANT VIDEOS THAT WE WATCH ON YOUTUBE, they would get 100 or maybe, 1000 times the exposure.

Let me give you an example of how important this is...Right now, Barack Obama has a brilliant response video to the Lipstick claim by McCain. These are the current statistics for the video:

#25 - Top Favorites (Today) - News & Politics
#85 - Top Rated (Today)
#14 - Top Rated (Today) - News & Politics

These statistics dictate what page the video appears, if it gets front page coverage, and whether or not, the main stream media picks up a video as 'viral'.

Those are good statistics, but there is no reason that the video could not be 1 one top rated today, 1 top favorited, and 1 most commented. And, if that was the case, it would come up at the top of searches, it would rank on top pages of category and overall video pages, it would get a TON more exposure. In sum, if everyone on DU took the simple and small action of rating videos, we could provide Obama with a huge amount of positive increased visibility without ANY cost. I see videos with literally thousands of views on DU with only 40 or so stars. And, a really good video from an amateur videographer can go viral and be picked up by major networks, if it is rated high enough.

MANY people are doing amazing work on videos for the Obama campaign, and they never get seen beyond DU & a few other progressive sites because we don't rate them. This action literally takes five seconds. All you have to do is click on the youtube logo on the bottom right of the video as it appears on DU, and rate the video five stars and add it to your favorites. That's it. If you appreciate the time people are taking to help the campaign, please honor their work and help it be seen. And, if you aren't registered at youtube, take three minutes to open a youtube account so that you can rate the videos.

The result of your simple action. Thousands upon thousands of additional people will hear the truth.

Please don't let this thread drop again. And, PLEASE rate over on youtube.

Information is contagious.

The more hits it gets, the more it's emailed, the more recs, more "Buzz"es it gets the more exposure. Freepers have been on to this for some time now. But we can counter them. Just remember when you see a good article featured on Yahoo! news, to do any of or all of those things too. If you don't really have anyone to email it to, send it to yourself! Quick and simple.

And not just on yahoo, some other sites have some sort of rec feature too. Always look for something like that.

playing it on this site will not increase the number of "views" it gets on You Tube. And "views" is what we want to get the videos on the front page of You Tube also.

And rate them 5 if they are pro-Obama. Also if you favorite it and make a comment it gets more viewing opportunities.

A few days ago, I posted a link to a DU thread with video that had the full comment from Obama re: "McCain hasn't talked about my Muslim faith." It was apparent within five seconds of watching the video that there was nothing even remotely close to some confession of being a Muslim, despite God knows how many Freeper threads totaling literally THOUSANDS of comments to the contrary.

I posted it in here hoping that folks would rec it and the thread never got the recs and I don't think very many people even watched it. Your post is a good idea.

I click on the vid in the DU thread and immediately re-click it to open a YouTube window. I leave the sound on the YouTube window muted and watch the DU version while thumbs upping/downing comments. And, of course giving the vid an appropriate star rating.

I always K&R good ones here with the added "and rated 5-stars on YouTube" to encourage others to do the same.

Note that you MUST 'watch' the entire video on YouTube for it to count toward 'views'.

Beware commenting for, alas, you can end up wasting half your day slapping and re-slapping stupid freepers down. Still, it can amusing watching them trying to remember what Rush told them to say about any given issue. ;)

I admit to being very stupid about some aspects of the internet. I don't know how that works. There must be other people like me.

You'll see the stars right there on the YouTube page. If you can't rate, then maybe you haven't logged in? Maybe you haven't made an account? Go to the start up page here: http://www.youtube.com/signup?next=/index and then fill out your info. You'll be able to log in and vote and favorite things you want to favorite.

It does not seem to like my information. It's quite frustrating. Is anyone else having that problem?

Dear Obama supporter,

The polls are close, and this election may be won by a handful of votes. We cannot rest until election day, whatever the polls say. Those of us who remember the Gore and Kerry campaigns know things can change suddenly. As your friend, I am begging you to help, and offering two opportunities.

(1) This election will not be won by blogging, preaching to the choir, or complaining about Bush/McCain/Palin. Not by t-shirts, cartoons, bumper stickers, yard signs or jokes. There is only one way it can be won - by face to face, heart to heart, personal contacts with independent voters. According to Howard Dean, research shows an election can be changed by as much as 28% if people go out onto their street, meet their neighbors and start talking.

There is a fabulous tool on the Barack Obama website, www.BarackObama.com, called, "Neighbor to Neighbor". It is near the middle of the page, and it is easy to use. There are glitches with how some computers read some websites. I suggest asking to borrow someone else's computer for a minute.

Boning up on the issues, current events like the mortgage crisis, anything recent that might come up and I'm hitting the trail tomorrow. I even talked my daughter into going with me! She knows some people on the list that I don't.

I can't believe she's getting involved! My flighty daughter is actually starting a blog w/her myspace hoping to get the facts to her McLame voting friends (there's not many here in SE PA, but they have families . . . ). I'm going to proof it to make sure her facts are straight. She'll also do youtube rating up and, come to think of it, so will my 15 yr old son.

But my daughter, It's so amazing that she's getting interested! She's 27 and the myspace thing, there's so much she can do, people she can reach, friends she can get excited and involved and they'll tell their friends and family, etc, etc.

I love it when my kids see through the political crap and get right to the point. It gives you hope for humankind.

My problem is I can no longer view YouTube video. For some unknown reason they will not play for me. I even upgraded beyond the regular DSL in an effort to watch them. I've had a knowledgeable friend check my security set up to no avail. AT&T has no explanation and cannot resolve this. I could watch them fine until this past Spring.

I think that there are two tremendous issues that many of today's voters, whether democratic or republican, fear: the reinstatement of the draft resulting in being forced to fight in a war and the loss of reproductive rights, that is, being FORCED to have a baby. I think we should be running ad after ad on these two themes. I have written 2 ads along these lines but lack the expertise to bring them to YouTube. If someone could guide me along, I would be most appreciative.

As you know youtube tracks what everyone watches and in fact recently as part of a lawsuit turned over massive amounts of information to Viacom. No way am I signing up for that. The judge ordered the info turned over. At the last minute a voluntary 'deal' was reached between youtube (google) and viacom to blank out the ip address and username of the viewers.

I have a youtube account and I will use it.
