2. That's not the only poll out there. Other polls had good news
I wouldn't worry too much about it.

4. And how can this ONE POLL be so far off from all the others?
I mean, they aren't even close!

Dumb Americans are a dime a dozen, from what I've seen. We've become a very pathetic, complacent society. Thank goodness our ancestors weren't so self centered.

12. Millions of repukes
crossed over during he primaries and registered as democrats. You just can't believe these polls. Americans aren't that stupid, but Rove and his clan think they are! Polls can be manipulated just like anything else. This is all about getting democrats feeling bad, and "NOT" getting out to vote. Sad thing is so democrats fall for this crap, and sit home feeling upset, and don't go vote because they think is "useless"!

Myself I am sick and tired of all these damn polls!

5. The red states have gotten redder.
Luckily, this doesn't matter. It's the electoral votes that count.

7. No big deal... it's unchanged.
"Additionally, it may take a few additional days before it is possible to determine if McCain's modest lead over Obama -- developed as a bounce out of the GOP convention -- will be sustained, or if it will fade."

8. Maybe polls should be pinned at the top of the forum each and everyday.....
just so that we don't forget what the polls say....even if a multitude of posters post them each over and over and over again.

after all, that one poll is soooo important in the larger scheme of things, that we should just stare at it till the new one comes out. After all, polls can and are used to sway the unwashed masses on a daily basis, regardless of the methodology.

and depress those of us fighting to save our democracy.

So thank you very, very much for posting this poll to give us a dose of "reality" again once more.

16. What is your issue?
I had not seen this poll on DU today. It is posted everyday because it is interesting information.

I have been nothing but supportive of Obama.

I consider these polls important because they help us to work harder. Ignoring these polls will cause us to have a lower voter turn out imho.

The national polls are NOT good indicators. Team Obama is on the ground and they know what's REALLY going on.

10. National poll leads of up to five points often vanish on the day of the election
National polls are terrible indicators when the race is at all close.

I would think people would not assume that I am trying to be a concern troll by posting these numbers. I am merely posting the news of the day.

22. i want us to be down or to have the polls close
it will just make us work that much harder and will bring out every vote we need. our ground game will put us over the top. in ohio it is going to be good enough to overcome a couple point deficit in the polls trust me

23. I don't buy it, it's still the GOP convention bounce.
Remember in September 2004, Bush was ahead of Kerry by a lot more? He had a strong post-convention bounce, combined with the SBVT weakening Kerry's numbers.

Kerry closed the gap, and it was VERY close in the end.

Obama is in a better place, and in a better election than Kerry was.

It'll be really close, but the race favors Obama.

24. Even Gallupsays it's going to take more time to determine if this is bounce or not
I'm more concerned that McSame has surged ahead on Intrade

OTOH, Rasmussen (which tends to skew GOP) show the race tied. The latest battleground state numbers show Obama closing gaps in Ohio and Florida.

Next big event will be debate #1. Our problem is that the EXPECTATION will be that McSame and Palin will do badly against Obama and Biden. Hence, if they hold their own without looking like stumbling morons, it will be spun as a great victory.

28. Take a breath. We're not falling apart.
McSame is (according to RCP) up 50.7 to 48.1 on Intrade

Did you think this was going to be easy? We're going to need to get everyone we can registered and voting. There are still 2 months and several debates --we ain't done yet. Don't get discouraged; that's what they want.

27. actually that's not to bad. I might be wrong but poll looks like it is
only through the 7th, and mccain still hasn't broken 50%. I think with obama getting back in the news and looking confident, plus these non-ending stories about palin that those numbers will be a lot closer next time.
