Did they have to get Katie Couric's permission to use her in the Republican lipstick ad?
Most people don't use a celebrity unless they have their specific permission. They used a great big honking picture of her in the lipstick ad from the brief glimpse I was able to catch on CNN before they cut away. We already know about the Couric/McCain lovefest because of her unethical and unprofessional and deceptive so -called "interview" ha ha ha ha where she swapped one answer for another.

So did she give her permission, yes or no?

Why shouldn't a small 5-8 seconds clip fall under Copyright Fair Use provisions?

4. I believe CBS said they didn't have permission
I heard a story (on CNN? I don't remember where) this morning about how the McCain campaign was running their ad on the website of CBS. CBS then took it down, with a public statement that they never gave their permission to feature Couric and that Couric could not be used to endorse either campaign as she is a neutral news anchor.
