What is the Obama Campaign doing about the voter purge?
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 10:38 AM by Skwmom
It seems like the Republicans are purging them as fast as the Obama campaign is registering them. Plus, some of the voters registered by the Obama campaign will vote Republican (and my money is on people likely to vote Republican NOT being included in the Republican purge).

Anyone?

I have relatives in OH and they NEVER heard of this concern.

1. Registering voters
There is nothing you can do. If state law allows for the purges the purges will occur.

What we should be asking ourselves is what did our do nothing congress do for the past 2 years not to address this.

4. How about GET THE WORD out that people need to VERIFY their voter registration.
Wow, I'm just an average American and I can figure that out.

So on election day Obama voters will go to the polls and find out, GASP, that they are not registered b/c they didn't update their address? Shhh.... we don't want them to know there is a problem until the day of the election.

9. Do you volunteer for the campaign where this is happening?
If so I suggest bringing it up to your FO or RFD to find out what they are doing and how you can help.

3. Who is this "Obama campaign" you speak of? Aren't you part of that campaign?
You talk about it like it's someone else. This other thing out there that is going to win the election.

Guess what? We're all in this together. I just registered someone who walked into my office.

Let's do this!

12. Well again and again we are told that the Obama Campaign has everything
taken care of, not to worry.

So I'm just wondering how is this being handled. If it's not, then I think there's good reason to worry.

23. I think the more important thing that the Obama campaign is saying
is that it's not all just about Obama. That change comes from people on the ground. Get out and register some voters and update their registration.

7. Where are the State Democratic Party offices?
Why is it that the Obama campaign has to not only run its own operation, but now it is expected to run the entire political operation for the Democratic Party in every state?

Why don't we ask where are our State Party chair people?

Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 10:44 AM by Skwmom
party people to make sure stuff like this is taken care of?

Let me think, OH is controlled by a MAJOR SUPPORTER of Clinton. You know, the Clinton team who seems to be focusing on 2012. Oh what am I thinking, I'm sure we can trust them to go all out for Obama.

26. Huh?
Where is the National Democratic Party? Dr. Dean has spent the past 4 years and tons of $$$ cleaning up the state messes and all of the offices are now supposedly up and running, although some are still disfunctional.

And your suggestion, per others in this thread, is clearly to create the aura of "divisiveness" within the Democratic party. The reality is that the only "divided party" is the repuke party... What with:

1.) Libertarian-leaning (those not registered as Libertarian but as repuke)
2.) The fiscal conservatives
3.) The social conservatives
4.) The gun nut conservatives (and I say this having had a father and grandfather who were hunters/fishers)
5.) The religious conservatives
6.) The neocons
7.) The moderates/pro-choice

and on and on.

Thanks to McLame and Saran bin Palin, the Democratic party has united even more than could ever have been imagined!

27. Divisiveness? Oh please. Are you telling me that you believe there aren't
Democrats just dreaming about a plum reward from the Clintons in 2012? Because if you do, I have a bridge to nowhere to sell you.

13. It's the GOP officials in those states purging voters and it's the Dem officials in those states who
need to act. The RNC is directing those GOP officials and guiding them through the process, and it's up to Dean and the DNC to stay on top of the countermeasures nationally and urge each state infrastructure to TIGHTEN UP and COUNTER the GOP tactics.

McAuliffe's failure to do this in the four years after 2000's theft led to Dem losses in 2002 and 2004.

closely monitoring PA, OH, and NH because the Clinton people control these states. Of course, I'm not a genius Washington consultant so what do I know.

I've called several people in OH, in different areas, and they've heard NOTHING about this. In fact, some had to go and get an updated voters registration.

Why are there no ads in OH about this?

21. Call Dean and Ohio DEM PARTY. Personally, I don't trust the Clinton people running state parties.
They showed no loyalty to Dem voters and Dem candidates in recent elections. Gore and Kerry both should have carried Ohio, but for the deliberate collapsing of Dem party infrastructure in that state by previous chairs loyal to the Clintons.

25. People willing to put this country through 4 years of McCain/Palin,
most likely Palin/Jeb Bush at some point in time, all so they can have some promised reward if Clinton wins in 2012? Yeah, I believe it.

18. Ohio seems overblown
Ohio has a Democratic Governor and a Democratic Secretary of State, who was specifically voted into office to fix the mess caused by Blackwell. It seems the coverage of the Ohio vote purge is overblown.

Voter rolls in many states are full of much deadwood - people who moved away years ago or died. One thing Ohio did was a computer crosscheck to see if people registered in Ohio are registered to vote in other states. That is beneficial - a person should only be registered in one location.
