Watch how Gibson starts to get annoyed with her, when she doesn't know what the doctrine is. He clearly gets disgusted. I think this is a good sign.(about 2 minutes in)

7. There won't be a shift at ABC, except to keep Charlie away from Palinocchio.
He failed in the mission to make her look good.

Actually I thought he looked pretty impatient and fed up, even before he had to explain the Bush Doctrine to her.

41. This video didn't exist in a vacuum.
There were other people involved at ABC who saw this before it ever hit the air, it's not live. Figure at least one editor (definitely some edits in there), a director, sound and camera operators, probably makeup artists. I'll bet the higher ups demanded to approve everything before it was released to the public. It could be that they had already announced they'd be airing X number of interview timeslots with her and when the shoot was over, they were left with this as one of the least dumbest things she said but she physically looked her best doing it. I figure that's the only way this got past the censors because she looked like an idiot!

But I agree, this bad showing won't stop ABC's Pailin lovefest. x(

48. oh, absolutely she did
they had a posse of people. How much you want to bet they have a similar demand list as celebrities? Certain lighting, being shot from a certain angle, final cut approval, a make up artist? Her own. hair stylist. check. clothing stylist. check. Starbucks latte? check. all white linen in the dressing room? check. only white flowers? check. Who is paying for all of that? Hmmm....

Ear piece. check.

And yes, it was edited heavily -- at least from the small bits I saw.

I can't believe she did as poorly as she did given the Kid Glove Celebrity Treatment she got on this on. I am positive she saw questions ahead of time. At the VERY least, they provided a list of "suggested" lines of questioning.

55. Never forget she trained to be an on-air personality.
That's essentially what she got her degree in. She was trained in diction and poise. She understands dressing for the camera very well. But I don't think she got ALL the questions. She was definitely caught off balance with the Bush Doctrine question.

65. Oh yes, I saw that too
I also saw shock on her face-- like what? that wasn't one of the questions. I'm sure the McCain gave them a list of "suggested" questions and "off limits" questions and then Charlie gave her a list of "probable questions".

The thing that ticks me off is that no other candidate would get to have a list of "off limits questions"....that's very celeb stuff. Although one would hope that the media would focus on pertinent stuff like he did anyway -- and it doesn't seem like the issues helped their side much.

Interesting thought: they wanted this race to be about personality and then complained that the media should leave her kids out of it but then she keeps on bringing them back into it....and notice when They aren't talking about her Dramas, and actually talk about her issues, how utterly obvious it is that this person is a fool?

I can only assume they thought Charlie would help build that narrative -- I'm shocked, frankly, that he was as hard as he was. Shocked.

with Gibson. He clearly realizes what a lightweight she is and SHE is clearly pissed that he would dare to ask her REAL questions.

Methinks this will make for some INTERESTING footage over the next 48 hours!

"I've made up my mind ... McCain/Palin"

I've heard better canned answers from Miss Teen Peoria contestants but apparently a segment of the population wouldn't care if they propped dead Bernie in the chair and tied strings to his finger to wag at Charlie.

Inept, vacuous and arrogant. We hit the trifecta.

I guess I'm one of the weird ones... who was so offended when it was mentioned in justification of an obviously idiotic and mis-characterized invasion that I'll never be able to forget it.

The CNN analysts also thought it was an "unfair" question... I mean... why should we expect the next Vice President to be more conversant with International Affairs than any other Hockey Mom?... that's just mean...

Everybody should know what the "Bush Doctrine" is. Thank goodness there are people like you who recognize this. Unfortunately, there are at least two kinds of people who won't know what it is: those who feel it's unnecessary because they wouldn't want to seem like "geeks", and their preachers tell them everything they need to know about what's right and what's wrong anyway; and those who are still so appalled by this Joke that has assumed the presidency, that defining his policies as doctrine seems to denigrate the doctrine of the legitimate presidents who came before his bastard reign.

70. That annoying whine in her voice is killing me.
She reminds me a a girl you meet in a bar while drunk and have a one night stand with. Then when you talk the next day you realize "Jeez I hate this person". She's the ex-girlfriend from hell that just won't go away.
