So the local Republican HQ moved in right next door.......
There were rumors.... And finally they did move in. Red State, Red Town they had to set up shop somewhere.

So I'm out on the porch of the Art Gallery I'm currently running, eating lunch with the Spousal Unit (as we try to do everyday) and I'm staring at the slew of signs for their various candidates.

Yes, I was still able to eat and digest lunch, but while I was zoning out, hypnotized by the sheer mass of stupidity gathered in one concentrated location, I noticed something. Something about their signs. And after some discussion with the S.U. we pinpointed several key things that you all should find interesting in discussion.

Had your coffee? Good. Our brainteaser for today is: Spot what's "wrong" with these signs (beyond the obvious - They are all soulless bastard Republicans - )

Just to clarify: The brick "flower boxes" these signs are posted in, hold all the publicly visible signs. All the others are inside waiting to be snapped up by lard-fed yahoos, driving gas-hogs and parking in our handicapped space so they won't have to walk.

12. And that completes our trifecta!!!
Blue, No obvious party affiliation, and no McCain signs.

And I like the cut of your jib. I'll go pick up a couple of Dem signs and sneak them in on the sly.

This should be fun.

And in case their are any Freepers reading this and hoping to get me tossed out on my ass..... Good Luck with that. The owner of the business and the owner of the building both loathe our vomitous Republicans reps AND their boss.

9. Repugs don't identify themselves in Oklahoma either
That way they get votes from people based on personality and not ideology and political affiliation.

10. not making a guess, but make sure you are videotaping their HQ
so that when their "HQ gets trashed by Godless Liberals (tm)", you have the videotapes to give to the police to charge the bandits ... especially when they turn out to be the GOP operatives ...

11. No R's in there. Just like an Assemblies of God church nearby
that dropped the A of G in their title to hide the fact that they were of that particular sect.

27. The "church growth movement" teaches 'em to do that--
call themselves "Community Church", and don't mention anything about denomination until after they've joined and started tithing. Honesty is no longer a Christian virtue, apparently.

13. For what it's worth,
Democrats running for office in Kansas usually don't put their party affiliation on their yard signs or walking cards. The idea is to persuade voters to vote for the Dem on the basis of qualifications, and to bypass the knee-jerk Republican vote of so many there.

I know because I ran for office in Kansas four years ago.

16. Having never had the opportunity to study them so intently
I probably missed that in the past.
Averting one's eyes is a good way to control Blood Pressure.

So how did you choose sign coloration? Or did that make a difference?

The S.U. and I were cracking up at the McCain signs because they have his website listed on the bottom. Why is that even necessary? It's not like he's going there to check his email.....

29. I used green and white
with a Shamrock, since I'm very Irish, what with the first name of Sheila.

It simply had my name, the shamrock, and State Representative. No party affiliation, doesn't name the state, nor does it give the district number. Just very simple. I have a copy of the yard sign saved on my computer as a .jpg, but can't figure out how to put it here. Oh, well.

I wanted something that would look a little different from all the standard red, white, and blue yard signs, with flags and stars. I did not lose because of my yard sign, that I know.

15. Back in 2004...
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 08:35 AM by southpaw
a republican named Jeff Fink was running for something... state legislature, maybe. (Whatever it was, he didn't win!)

Anyway, it was funny as hell to drive past the local repuke headquarters. The building and the surrounding lawn were covered with the word FINK in big blue letters.

At the time, I was serving on the county tobacco coalition with Mr. Fink's wife, and I mentioned to her how seeing the republican headquarters with FINK written all over it was, indeed, quite a sight! I think she took it as a compliment, but others present got what I was saying.

21. Dickie Mopper for Mayor in Savannah GA was the one that cracked me up.
I took 2 of my students down to SCAD to check it out. We went by his HQ, no signs left, on of my charges got out of my car and begged random households for their signs. No luck.

Who wouldn't want a big sign with the words

DICKIE

MOPPER

on it? Yes, I'm an emotionally stunted teenager. But that's what you get for teaching college kids.

But I am considering the suggestion upthread of mixing in an OBAMA sign with the other herd of blue placards. See how long it takes them to catch on.
