McCain out of touch ad: I get it now. ITS A GOOD IDEA!!!
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 03:57 PM by goletian
i thought it was stupid the first time i saw it. but i had missed the first part emphasizing how old he is. this is a cheap shot, petty -- no doubt. but its a good direction to go in if you want the gloves to come off. this is a good idea, guys -- its not the high road, its not the issues, but it has merit. and ill show you why:

from a poll done by http://www.gallup.com/poll/26611/Some-Americans-Reluctant-Vote-Mormon-72YearOld-Presidential-Candidates.aspx#1">gallup:

---------------------------
this has potential, guys. bottom three near gays and atheists? i love me some gays and atheists, but if you guys wanted the gloves off, you cant help but listen to these numbers. granted, the ad wasnt too hot, but its a step in the right direction if you dont mind getting your hands dirty; and the other side sure as hell has NO qualms with that.

i support the ad, i support the direction. i was against it before i was for it.

the next low road attack should be about mccain hiding behind his precious vp pick. they need to flip the rove spin over, shoot it right back. obama has tried his best to avoid the palin subject -- he knows whats up -- but they took whatever they could to spin it as if hes focused on her. we need to have the people realize that mccain is a chicken hiding behind his vp because he doesnt want to talk about issues, doesnt want to be cornered with the mccain = bush meme. lets do this!!!!!

2. It's not petty in the least
America and the world can simply not afford a president who cant use a computer. It's a serious (at least as far as the job of POTUS is concerned) character and intellectual flaw.

10. More so: unwilling, disagreeable, uninquisitive, etc.

I know a guy who is McSame's age but who readily adopts new technology. I don't envision McSame with an Apple laptop and iPhone any time in the next four years. JMHO of course.

Edit to comment: If it's the age angle that makes America understand, I'm not going to shoot that down. But old people aren't necessarily walking corpses.

11. ive got absolutely nothing against people of any age. nothing at all. im just sayin...
if people wanna play, lets play. im not sayin it makes america understand, just that it can give us results. its not substantive, but the numbers look promising.

12. The polls are what they are.
I wonder if that could be followed by examples of how McCain would be unfit for office.

13. surely he can be seen losing his cool back in the 80s or somethin
i think those coke bottle glasses do well enough to play on the age angle, maybe put the month n date in the lower right hand or somethin. then make it an ad about temperament with the age subtext. yeah... i could see that.

6. Good point re. the polling that informs the ad. But I'm stuck on the atheist thing...
What the hell is wrong with this country? It's required that one believe in god to become president? I'm going to withhold my tirade about religion, but this little tidbit has something to say about America, and it ain't good.

7. I don't believe the conservatives that said they would vote for a
black person 92% of the time. I believe there is more than 8% racists on the right or a women for that matter. I am really surprised that Palin is getting such a big bounce. Something smells fishy to me, here in Virginia racism and sexism are everywhere.

8. ITS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE MEDIA LOOKS AT IT IN THIS CONTEXT
instead of stuff like "oh, well how strong of an attack is this, he cant use computers, blah, blah" we need to hear stuff like "well, obama seems to be pointing at mccains age, and studies show the majority of americans are not in favor of having a 72 yr old president..."

14. ads should focus on mccain but
how about something like showing mccain lying his head off as usual
then quotes from various sources calling out mccain for being "misleading" and "stretching" the truth
then contrast with quotes calling bush and co "misleading" regarding going to war with iraq
then put in mccain's quote about how the public needs to trust the government again
and close with "how can we trust mccain?"
