It's not about the color of our candidate's skin
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 06:49 PM by BeyondGeography
We lost in '68 with this guy

In '72, it was this guy

Something unusual happened in '76; we won! But then this guy failed to get re-elected

And his ex-VP got slaughtered in '84

We tried something different in '88; same bad result

Then Bill Clinton managed to win and left the country in pretty good shape after two terms; great if you compare it with its current state. His VP, however, was caught in an election that was close enough for the other side to steal.

A great Senator and a great man continued our losing ways in 2004

Like Obama, they were all good Democrats. Unlike Obama, they were white. Ten elections, seven defeats, seven white guys.

The end.

1. Every single one of them a decent, kind, intelligent person.
What's wrong with half the people in this country?

3. Not really a fair comparison.
There is no precedent for this election matchup. Its a white guy versus a black guy and its never happened before on a national level.

11. I think the OP's point is that Democrats get slimed no matter what.
Take another look at the photos in the OP. Did you know that many of them were war heroes?

George McGovern flew 35 missions during WWII and won the Distinguished Flying Cross. Both Mondale and Carter were veterans of the Korean Conflict. Both Al Gore and John Kerry volunteered to serve in Vietnam, despite being wealthy. They could have easily avoided service or gotten stationed as National Guardsmen, but they served in-country.

Each of these men was labeled a "wimp" by the corporate-owned media and lying Republicans.

4. Oh yes, skin color matters - Obama is half white
and I am white (with freckles and very brown age spots) so I am going to vote for him!

Perhaps there are other reasons, but this is good enough for me. Hee hee.

5. It's kinda difficult
when the other side is a bunch of lying, cheating, murderous, stealing thugs.

6. I think Obama's the best of the bunch, I really do.
Up with Clinton in terms of smarts and oratorical skills, but not quite so... distractible by the ladies, I don't think.

think about the fact that the democrats out number the republicans. Even if the republicans got half of the Ind. vote, we still should have won most of those 10.

63 million registered Democrats, 47 million registered Republicans, 32 million registered as independents or with minor party, 62 million not registered ...

And those numbers don't even include the new figures from this year.

WAKE UP AND VOTE PEOPLE.

8. It isn't, but it will be interesting to see how well the poll results match
the actually voting with regard to race. Honestly, it seems that alot of folks aren't too shy about admitting that they have a problem with Obama's uppity, exotic, muslimness.

9. What's different (beside the obvious) and the economic situation
is that the Dems are trying the "50-state strategy".
