I just scored another vote for Obama! (Thanks in big part to Caribou Barbie)
My good friend Marian just started her first year of grad school in Kentucky for Folklore Studies (though she still votes here in MD). She grew up on a farm in a very conservative family, but she's pretty much as much of a complete 50/50 Moderate as you can find. And she's been very split on this election. I've been working on her to vote Obama for a while, but a couple issues she's big on (pro-life, pro-gun) had her undecided.

So she just IMed me and asked me what Obama's position is on the Arts. She wants to work as a Folklore expert in a museum, so it's a big issue for her. I sent her the link http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/issues/additional/Obama_FactSheet_Arts.pdf) from his site, and told her to focus on the part about increased funding for the Endowment of the Arts. She read over it real quick and said that she had no choice, she had to vote for Obama. She'd heard that Palin supported slashing funding for Arts institutes, which meant even less job opportunities for her profession. This will be her first time voting (she turned 18 just after Election Day in 2004), and I'm proud to say she'll be voting for Obama!

2. Thank you for giving this young lady the information she...
really needs. My son is a History Major and knows from
where you and the young lady speak.

7. I scored one this week, also -
have a friend who was just not going to vote (for reasons I will not even mention) - but after I begged him to listen to Obama's acceptance speech - he finally called to tell me his is voting - for Obama.
think I turned 2 repub lites around this week, too - tho I believe it was Palin who honestly changed their minds - now they are voting for Obama - ironic, ain't it?!!
