Big picture: Professor O has done it again!
Namely, outsmarted his opponents and driven them to desperate measures. That's not to say he'll take the prize without a monumental shit fight, or that he'll win -- he's basically challenging the MIC-CIA-BigOil-BigMedia gravy train, and they have a habit of annihilating their enemies by any means necessary -- but Palen is turning out to be every inch the desperation candidate and it will take some serious voodoo to save McCain's bacon.

So even though there are many traps ahead and many nasty tricks they have yet to pull, I'm starting to think McCain/Palen might go the way of Alan Keyes and other unlucky also-rans.

I'm stoked!!!

3. Mainly by avoiding pitfalls
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 10:24 PM by dailykoff
keeping his message clear and clean, and letting his opponents self-destruct -- for example by choosing a veep that led McCain to bet the farm on Palin, and then to trash his own carefully-constructed maverick image by running a typical kitchen sink gutter campaign.

More examples: (1) keeping his former Dem opponents happy, or at least not giving the press any excuses to blame Obama for any frosty relations, and (2) running an awesome convention and giving a speech that actually lived up to its hype.

5. I was thinking the same thing.
McCain has switched from using Hillary's first failed tactic, which was along the lines of "experience trumps change" to using Hillary's second failed tactic, which is "I'm the real change agent".

They are even going with the same tired tricks: accusing Obama of sexism, trying to constantly change the subject, smearing our guy.

These are solid tactics, but if they didn't work with Hillary, who was a much stronger candidate than McCain/Palin, then they aren't going to work now either.

8. Yes it looks like they're already in the kitchen-sink phase
which happens to be their specialty, so I hope Obama's teflon holds out the sixty days.
