Nearly 10 million watched Gibson Interview Palin Thurs Night
What was not in dispute was that people were watching. An estimated 9.7 million viewers saw the first part of Mr. Gibson’s interview with Ms. Palin on “World News” Thursday night, nearly 25 percent more than watched Mr. Gibson’s program a week earlier and two million more than watched “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” as Mr. Gibson was interviewing Ms. Palin, according to Nielsen Media Research. Often the audiences are similar in size.

Bolstered by its broadcasting of the second installment, “Nightline” on ABC was seen by more viewers than both “Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC. Another installment, in which Ms. Palin chastised Congress for excessive spending and spoke of her personal opposition to embyonic stem-cell research, was shown Friday on “World News,” with a one-hour episode of “20/20” based partly on the interviews scheduled for later in the evening.

As was the case when Mr. Gibson and George Stephanopoulos moderated a Democratic candidates’ debate five months ago, the ABC News Web site was flooded with more than 10,000 comments in the hours after the network began showing the Palin interviews.

The questions some respondents took issue with included Mr. Gibson’s reference to a recent church speech, in which he quoted Ms. Palin as saying, “Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.” In an excerpt of the speech on YouTube — which ABC spliced into the interview when it was shown — Ms. Palin had prefaced that comment by appearing to say she was praying that America’s mission in Iraq represented God’s will.

And I hope it showed most of them how unready this woman is to be VP let alone being heartbeat away from President!

1. Thank GOD! I hope she keeps giving interviews. She's clearly a dodo.
And this ditzhead wants to be president. Only in America could a bible-banger that has the air of a pole dancer and the genius of Miss South Carolina explaining world peace, run for office that might make her the president. Why do Republicans only come up with trash to run for office?

7. I understand gas prices are high in Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A state investigation has found that Alaska's gasoline prices are falling more slowly than elsewhere in the nation because the two refineries here are struggling to turn a profit.

The investigation finds that it's the refineries that have kept prices high.

The investigation, however, has not determined why Alaska's two refineries haven't lowered their prices along with plunging oil prices.

The average Anchorage gas price has declined 4.5 percent in the last two months, compared with the national average of 11 percent.

6. A substantial drop from her convention speech numbers.
I'm not sure if that is good or bad!

8. IT's only on one station. The convention speech was on every station.
Hopefully, by the time she's on hannity she'll lose some steam.

9. I'll be interested in the 20/20 numbers
And you have to figure the other news outlets were carrying the story as well so it got a lot of eyes. Even my local ABC affiliate carried it on their local news.

10. I think it's fantastic that so many people saw it. Her screechy voice, "Charlie", the deer
in the headlights look. I bet a lot of people feel more negative towards her after the interview, and those who were caught up in her at the convention could very well be reconsidering right now. Her luster is clearly wearing off. Additionally, I don't think people will be as eager to listen to her after tonight; they've seen one interview, why watch more? I think this is definitely good for us.

11. forgive me for this aside but I dont want to start a whole new thread....
The war in Iraq is CLEARLY not God's will and any Christian who actually takes the time to READ the New Testament would know that. I dont buy that logic any more than I buy her attempt at changing what she said.

~ end of rant ~

13. I was pissed they let her get away with saying she was quoting Lincoln
Bullshit! We all know the handlers came up with that gem for her to spout to Gibson after the church video surfaced.

14. When we win in November....
.... I really do think included in the deal should be full custody of Abe Lincoln's legacy.

The Republicans have squandered it should be handed over to the Democrats who will take better care of it.
