No Expectations

In the wake of Palin's "moose in the headlights" moment regarding the Bush Doctrine, the right-wing noise machine has been quick to get the meme moving that it's horribly elitist to expect Palin to know more about foreign policy than the average Joe on the street. Sadly, the national media are helping to push this meme. Despite Krauthammer's slight departure from doctrine in noting McCain's lies, he's right on board with giving Palin a pass for her staggering ignorance. His confederates in the press are climbing on board the same bandwagon.

And so the stage gets set again to usher a know-nothing, incurious ignoramus into the highest office in the land. Because God forbid we expect the leader of the free world to know more about policy than typical clodpate on the street.
