The National Review: Palin "tried to bluff her way through, pretending to know what she obviously
did not know."

I expected I would go to my grave without ever saying these words: David Frum is right.

1. eh gads you are right!
>>But Palin never punted. She tried to bluff her way through, pretending to know what she obviously did not know. It's an understandable impulse, and in the context of a single interview, not so very terrible. But is it an impulse that she'd lay aside once in office? Or is it a deeper habit? A lot may turn on the answer to that question.

:kick: & recommend!!

4. If she were straight up she would have
admitted it and gone on from there. She'd have gotten a lot more respect from charlie.

As it is..all anyone is talking about is her foolish attempt to coverup.."In what respect, charlie?"

8. Why Bush never asks questions:
Somebody who knew President Bush well once remarked to me. "You'll notice he never asks questions."

"Why not?" I said.

"Because he doesn't know what it's okay for him not to know."

16. I must say this is a turnaround for Frum
After all, he WAS a speechwriter for Puddin' Head and is widely believed to be the author of the "axis of evil" speech. He was a "Bushie" before being a Bushie was cool in the GOP.

But he's been remarkably frank about his dislike for Palin right from the time it was announced.

I'm thinking it must be the few molecules of Canadian left in him.

in saying that this is a "deeper habit."

This is her way of being in the world. She is so incredibly ego based, that her
instinct is to constantly prove how great she is, even when she doesn't know what
she is talking about.

Ed Schultz said it the other day: "She doesn't know her ass from third base."

The fact that McCain allowed this is evidence how unfit he is to be president.

cat hospital cleaning cages and scooping litter boxes.

And she's an idiot. She'd be downright dangerous around my patients and medications.

23. So the National Review would be fine with a stupid bimbo as long as she admits it.
The female candidate should fawn over the superiority of her running mate:

"What should we do about a nuclear Iran?

Charlie, that's an incredibly difficult question. That's why I am so grateful for the leadership of John McCain. I think we'll all feel safer with President McCain deciding on issues like these than we would with an untested and unready candidate like Senator Obama."

28. Probably because they dislike the Christian fundamentalists
Don't get me wrong, they love getting them all frothed up, but they never have any intention of actually following through with any of their promises. They like that the right wing is agitated, and the middle is apathetic. But, start to implement Christian fundamentalist policies, and suddenly the situation becomes reversed, which would make things really bad for the Republicans.
