"I don't care if you were raped. That baby must be BORN!"
That is effectively what the Palin position is on abortion, even if a woman or girl is raped.

Palin would then make that woman or girl pay for the rape kit if she decides to report it, and would then throw her in prison if she tried to obtain an abortion.

1. Exactly, AND even if the woman will die without an abortion.
NO exceptions.

3. Yet she talks about how both she and her daughter CHOSE to
have their babies.

How nice, Sarah. Really; I'm glad you two had a choice.

But tell me, how is it that you want to take away other women's opportunity to do the same?

4. ...I'm sure Bristol REALLY had a choice in this.
Sarah will probably make her have her hymen rebuilt too.

5. I *was* raped. I didn't go to the police or hospital because I was ashamed.
In the early 1980's it was still considered a womans fault - she was "asking for it"....

Or that's how I felt.

I took two BC pills a day for 5 days. Then there was a huge "period".

The shame of rape was enough - the thought of submitting myself (a young, thin lady) to the secondary "rape" of reporting it to police was sufficient to stop me.

And THAT was in a state where the Rape Kit was PAID FOR by the state... DEAR GOD - She made rape victims PAY for the rape kit themselves????

What a good "christian" - NOT!

11. Peacebird, thank you for sharing your experience.
I am so very sorry you had to live through that. A very close friend of mine was raped and she was never the same. It's so difficult, but rape victims have to speak out and explain to women why Palin is the very OPPOSITE of everything that is good and decent for women.

12. She values potential life over actual life.....
A lot of fundamentalists do that. Their afterlife is more important than life right now.

Reality is not their thing. ; )

14. But more so anti-sex for enjoyment....
That's why the religious reich also is so down on homosexuality. There's numerous other passages in the Bible that give them plenty of things to attack but they ignore those. They don't the gay issue because it involves sex.

Sex is only for procreation! How dare someone have it for fun! Uh huh. They hate the inner feelings of guilt they have when they do so themselves. That's were their obsession with these two issues come from.

If you are going to do it for enjoyment, you damn better well feel guilt! It's a misery loves company sort of thing....

16. She's a fundamentalist...what else would you expect?
Rape is condoned in the Bible. Google it.

She probably believes it's "god's will". How dare the victim attract that man! It's her fault! Uh huh... but that's how they think about the issue.

I have relatives that think this exact way inside. That book creates some scary folks.

17. I was a rape victim advocate for 7 years
and I once had a rape victim who decided to have the child of the rape and keep it. She didn't decide that until the day the abortion was scheduled. She knew the rapist- it was an aquaintance rape- and she didn't hate him. She atually was able to forgive him. The turning point for her was when a lot more people knew what happened to her and gave her unconditional support for her decision, whether to abort or keep the child. There was a confrontation with the rapist and her boyfriend.

It is unusual, but I think she was comfortable with it. If it was a stranger, or if it had been a rape with a weapon it would have been more difficult. It was hard enough but I give her a lot of credit. She was only 19. So, sometimes it happens. But I would never force this decision on anyone. I made sure she knew she could take as long as possible to make it, and she did. She could have still decided to put the child up for adoption, but she kept it and raised it with her boyfriend.

22. This could be a Willie Hortonish moment
Biden: Gov. Palin, you are the mother of young girls, if (and this is just a hypothetical, certainly not an accusation) you husband, a brother or brother in law or you or Mr. Palin's father molested your daughter and impregnated her, you would support the law of the land being that she would be required to take that fetus to term?
