Maybe the biggest mistake with Palin is that she cannot and won't be allowed to speak on her own. Hearing Biden yesterday and this morning is bad news for McCain. The choice of Biden has allowed for a two prong attack that McCain can't match, actually either Hillary or Biden would have done this, but your seeing the effect.

In reality McCain's only sensible choice was Romney who we have NOT seen or heard from at all since the pick; think he's pissed. McCain's obvious pander coupled with the lack of a plan and a "green" vp is making them look really bad on the economy right now.

Currently you get the sense that Obama/Biden are speaking (although on message) from two different lenses with a dual effect. McCain/Palin are speaking from the same script and it sounds like it. This is why the debates will be critical, especially Biden who will show a depth of knowledge Palin cannot match.
