I found my copy of the Obsession DVD in the W-S Journal- and took it to them
I was determined that if I was so "lucky" to receive that crap in my paper, that I was not going to call the Winston-Salem Journal. I was going down there and voice my opinion, and hand it to them.

So this morning, I went downtown in the pouring rain on my way to work. I parked, and marched to the head office. On the way in, I encountered two men. They asked if I needed help (because I couldn't figure out how to get into the building), and I asked them how to get in because I needed to complain about this DVD. One of the men said, "I was very glad to get that in my paper". I glared at him, so he quickly gave me directions, and in I went.

The lady at the desk asked if she could help me, and I asked her why it was in our paper. I got the distinct impression that I was not the only complaint they have received. She gave me the speech about the sponsor, and they were not responsible. I told her that I thought it was wrong that it was in the paper, I was very upset at them for including it, and that I wasn't stupid and knew it was in all the papers in the battleground states. She actually said that she agreed with me. I handed my copy to her, and said the Journal could have it, because I didn't want it.

Even though it was cold & wet outside, that made me feel good ! :-)

3. You did the right thing
They need to know that this type of "insert" isn't what their subscribers want or expect from them. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

4. Sure
I thought my point would get across better if I took it to them. They can disregard phone calls, but it's harder to disregard someone looking them in the eye and calling them on their bullshit.

8. Fear mongering propaganda
NEW YORK As explored here this past weekend, the Clarion Fund has paid dozens of newspapers across the country -- almost solely in "swing" election states -- and The New York Times to distribute the "Islam terror" DVD "Obsession" with their home delivery packages. Among the larger cities where this has taken place: Miami, Philadelphia, Denver and Pittsburgh.

An estimated 28 million copies have been distributed so far, also through the mails and other magazines. An article at the group's site, www.radicalislam.org, all but endorsed John McCain this past week, then was pulled down.

But at least one newspaper turned away the money and refused to distribute it, calling it "divisive."

7. They took money from a sponsor, and put it in their paper.
That makes them responsible.

12. Good for you!
I think that kind of ripple in the pond *does* have bigger reverberations. If enough people do it, then it comes up at the staff meeting at the paper. Enough of that can have a snowball effect.
