My Republican coworker
I don't dare talk with republicans about politics at work but I didn't bring it up!

A woman I work with is a moderate Republican but I bet she has NEVER voted dem. She laughed and rolled her eyes about Palin right after she was named but I didn't "go there".

Today we got to the deli to get lunch to bring back, longish line so we talk cases (work). One is in an oil rich area of the state where salaries have gone up to compete with ppl who work in the oil fields. We had a school janitor making $17 per hour a few months ago. I said: "Yeah, that's what oil does to an economy. In Alaska when the pipeline went in salaries went through the roof. You couldn't hire anyone for less than they paid on the pipeline and price skyrocked." (I knew I was skirting the issue to see if she'd talk Palin)

She said, speaking of Alaska, what do you think about Palin?

She's a complete nut case I said. She agreed and said: "What was he thinking?" She knew about the tanning bed but not firing the librarian.

Then we talked about Assembly of God church and how they hate the Mormons so why are all the Mormons here in Utah voting for her?

As we were walking back I said: "I hope you're not thinking of voting for her, not that your vote really counts here" and she said: "No, that will not be happening."

(I love these threads and while mine does not have as much color as others, thought I'd pass it along. Maybe she'll spread the word at hear ward this sunday.)

2. These kinds of threads are my favorites. I wish there were more of them.
I love eavesdropping on these snippets of other people's conversations in different states across the country. When it turns out like yours did, it gives me a little vicarious thrill of victory. :)
