3. I really think she did it better the first time... she seems a bit less confident.
What do you think?

5. She doesn't have the intellectual capacity to learn something new
nor does she have the knowledge to just "wing it". She's a joke and it's time she was called that.

17. I'm no Palin fan, but I don't think this is correct.
I think McCain's people are "handling" her to such an extent that she's not allowed to speak freely. But it's all right by me if they want to turn her into a joke -- she was far more likeable (and more dangerous, in my opinion) when she was on her own.

24. Do you think she's intelligent? Afterall, I had never heard her
speak until the V.P. nomination, but what I have seen of her (interview on ABC) she doesn't "sound" smart. She has terrible grammar and incoherent speech patterns for someone in her position, imo.

28. I wouldn't necessarily say she's intelligent
but she is politically savvy, and is quite capable of speaking for herself. Additionally, she has NOT been a partisan shill, but has taken pains to work with the Democrats in the legislature. We here were all shocked at the tone she took at the convention. It was so unlike anything we had ever heard from her before. It's unquestioned that she has played political hardball here with her opponents (many of whom are Republicans), but it seemed to be the "iron fist in the velvet glove" approach, not the snarling pitbull. That's purely a McCain campaign creation.

33. I don't disagree with that at all.
It's just been a real eye-opener for Alaskans, and I don't think Sarah's going to like it much when she comes home. Already more people showed up for the "anti-Sarah" rally here in Anchorage last weekend than were present for the "welcome home" party. (See photos here http://mudflats.wordpress.com/2008/09/15/rally-vs-rally-do-the-math/ ). Over the next couple of months, her reputation will sink even further. I suppose as Alaskans we owe a debt of gratitude to John McCain for picking her and forcing her to undergo this scrutiny. She had a lot of people fooled here before.

36. It was covered pretty well here locally,
but I didn't see much in the national news either. As far as Alaskans' feelings are concerned, the national media only wants to concentrate on the alleged 80% approval rating -- but they forget that that was as GOVERNOR, certainly not for vice president. Even many of her staunchest supporters don't think she's qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Much of Sarah's "baggage" could be overlooked in the context of state government, especially since she wasn't really forcing it down anyone's throat (i.e., her rightwing religious beliefs) but it's just too scary to think of her with so much more power, especially given McCain's age and health. We're a small state, there's only so much damage she could have inflicted on us in the course of four or eight years -- but on a national level? That's a whole other story.

but that's fine by me. At least in Alaska she was capable of using her own words. He's just made a joke out of her.

14. It's interesting that she claims to have ad-libbed when her tele-prompter broke at the RNC
My question - if her teleprompter really did break down, and she really did ad-lip what she said then, how come she's repeating it word-for-word ever since?

Why didn't she revert to her "original" speech if the RNC one was ad-libbed?

It proves that she's lying about the teleprompter breaking down. She didn't "wing" it. It was carefully rehearsed and she hasn't bothered to have anyone write another speech for her since then.

21. Since it's the only thing she's allowed to say
it has to be getting easier by the day to keep repeating the same lines. McCain's people are tying to mold an image of her that keeps being contradicted by her actual performance and by the now daily negative news coverage.

Also, Palin was a newscaster and a journalism major. Yes, she learned to memorize speeches. That's one thing she can do.

26. Obviously. I wish someone in the press would point that out, though.
She keeps telling people that she ad-libbed at the RNC. If she's repeating the same speech verbatim over and over again that is obviously a lie.

She lies carelessly, about things that don't even matter. She lies pathologically.
