Text of Twins speech..........

JENNA BUSH: It's great to be here. We love Arnold. Isn't he awesome?

Thanks to him, if one of us ever decides to marry a Democrat, nobody can complain, except maybe our grandmother, Barbara. And if she doesn't like it, we would definitely hear about it.

We already know she doesn't like some of our clothes, our music, or most of the TV shows we watch.

Gammie, we love you dearly, but you're just not very hip.

She thinks "Sex and the City" is something married people do, but never talk about.

We spent the last four years trying to stay out of the spotlight. Sometimes, we did a little better job than others.

3. You Know Somthing.....

If John and John had not had their childern speak at the Democratic convention do you really think that Shrub would have had his two sleeze twins speak tonight........

These girls were nowhere in 2000 unless under a KEG counts....

Once again this proves Shrub and company lack creativity just remember a couple of weeks back when Bush tagged right behind John Kerry having to do damage control......

6. I doubt he would have
But it's nice to have the actual educated and intelligent children of our candidates speak while Bush's daughters mumble their way threw some dumbass speech with retarded jokes. If this influences any voters it certainly won't be for Bush.

5. Hmmmm . . .
. . . the speech is not as bad as I thought. I guess it was the delivery that stunk it up.

20. I saw it live . . .
. . . and was appalled by the delivery and quite surprised by the obvious disconnect they had with their audience. Barbara of the 'beautiful mind' looked like she was swearing under her breath. There seemed to be a lot of shifting in seats among the family members and 'bigwigs'. That's why I was surprised to see that the actual speech was not quite as bad as the twins made it sound. Neither one presented herself like a Yale grad. I wonder who's doctoring their school records. How sad that a bought and paid for Yale education was squandered away. The apples didn't fall to far from the tree in this case.

25. Because they did . . .
. . . he was on a satellite feed, posing in front of a baseball field with 'players' in the background faking the funk like there was an actual game going. It was probably secret service guys in costumes. This presidency and particularly this convention is like watching a made for prime time movie. Totally staged with props and scripts ala 'Wag the Dog'.

27. These girls are college graduates?????
I can't believe that these girls come from a family of money and are graduates of Yale and the UT, that they have not taken speech class's. Their entire family are politico's and they have been surronnded by speech writers and yet these young women in their twenties, are so immature. God even money and the best education that money can buy hasn't helped them. It seems the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.

26. The text is bad enough.
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 01:09 AM by BillyBunter
But it doesn't capture the twin horrors of the speech, which are 1) both girls lack any sense of timing, and 2) the incredibly inane laughter from the darker haired one, which sounded like a bad imitation of Beavis and Butthead. I had to stop watching it halfway through, it was simply that bad. Someone here provided a link to the disaster on MSNBC, and I highly recommend it to those of you who might be suspecting this is DU hyperbole. I've never seen worse. I actually began feeling pity for them, and the only reason I didn't feel more pity is because I got the sense they are so stupid, they will never understand just how terribly they humiliated themselves.

All that being said, I've read stories about trial attorneys who deliberately wear shabby clothes to trials to win sympathy with jurors. Another variation on this tactic is to deliberately mis-speak at times. I don't think either one of these girls is smart enough to do this themselves, but giving them that wretched speech and that poor preparation might be part of the whole "just plain folks" thing the Bush people have been angling towards for months now. It was something like watching talent night at a junior high school, and what's more reassuring than to see other parents' kids are just as average as your own?

Kind of like dad.

Is this speech an attack on the Republican party or what?

The text, the delivery, the slimy hair, the smug looks, ("Aren't we just SOOOOO cuuuuuute?") --

couldn't believe it was real.

Yet, they are just like Dad. Pampered and pathetic.
