Why does no one compare Bush to George Armstrong Custer?
He is far more like him in his stubbornness than he is like Churchill who was merely strong.

2. Ha! I was thinking the same thing just the other weekend...
... watching the Errol Flynn puff-piece movie, 'They Died With Their Boots On', framing Custer as a heroic figure (as though Rove had been the screenwriter).

4. Custer was brave, good looking, and actually went to war
along with the people he led. No comparison at all.

5. I love the quote, which is from Little Big Man, but it's appropriate

"Your miserable life is not worth the reversal of a Custer decision."

6. Custer actually helped save the Union...
He stopped Jeb Stuart's Cavalry attack on the rear of the Union lines accross Cemetary Ridge, July 3, 1863. Though it is arguable that a successful charge by Stuart would have saved the odd assault the South made at "The Corner" and "Copse of Trees", Custer nonetheless prevented the possibility.

8. I have heard it cogently argued that this is a slander.
Herostratus seems a more appropriate comparison.

For those who may miss my point, it is about wanton destruction of a great thing for the sake of vanity. This seems very apropos to me.

I would also defend Custer but it has been done well enough already.

10. More Like Bucephalus Than Nero
Sneaky Dick Cheney would play the part of Nero.

9. He's very much like Custer
Refusing to listen to the experts; refusing to change course when the course is obviously heading off a cliff. But bush has gone better than Custer; bush has the entire country headed off a cliff.

And the vast majority of Americans agree.

So WHY would anyone vote for bush?
