Have you heard this rumor? Obama not saying the Pledge
of Allegience?

My bro is telling me this and saying that Obama admitted it.

I wasn't prepared, I can usually debunk everything so quick haven't came across this one

and my mom is saying that she heard on CNN that they said Palin did not ban books.

I told her I know I've read things that said she did.

Mom and bro are republicans

me and dad are dems lol

4. This rumor comes from a photo taken during the National Anthem
...in which Obama doesn't have his hand on his heart.

Lots of people don't put their hands over their hearts during the National Anthem.

6. Palin didn't ban books
she ASKED the librarian how to do it.

Obama didn't say the pledge of allegiance? Where? When? WGAF?

I deeply resent that this election will be decided by the least informed among the citizenry.

during the pledge but it was really the national anthem.

Theh Palin thing... she didn't actually ban books but asked a library official how she would feel about getting rid of certain books. Apparently one of them was about having 2 daddies and she hadn't read it. The library official basically said absolutely not to the idea. So the desire and attempt to ban is true.

17. Tell 'em Obama stews puppies for supper, too. White ones.
Has to have white ones. I'm sure there's a tape of Obama saying the Pledge of Allegiance somewhere because I've witnessed him do it. Re book banning, here's a joke I heard on our local radio talk show. What's the difference between Sarah Palin and a pitbull? The pitbull doesn't know how to get books banned.

18. You'll want to do the research yourself.. it's out there.
Posts like yours are magnets for abuse here... because many of us have been burned by low posters who post things negative about Dem candidates under the guise of needing info.

Try snopes.com for the pledge thing. It's total BS. As is any claim that he used the Koran to be signed in, etc. etc. etc.

Palin did not ban the books actually, she tried to pressure the town librabrian three times on removing books like "Daddy's New Roommate", and "Pastor, I'm Gay" When the librarian refused her requests, she was fired. The town rallied around the librarian and she kept her job, but only after Palin was told that she would face a recall if she didn't.

Let you family know there are a LOT more important issues than whether someone said the pledge or banned books. Unless your family is independently wealthy or owns a hospital, I'd say their best bet is to vote for the only candidate that will fight to get insurance for everyone, and stop giving tax cuts to the wealthiest top 2% of Americans, while cutting services for the rest of us.

Oh, and if they say they don't want to pay for other people to get insurance? Tell them that they ALREADY pay, we ALL do, because of uninsured people who use local and govt health services, and indigent care at hospitals.

21. Send them this Picture of Palin in Alaska during the Star Spangle Banner

Then ask them about her husband's membership and her participation in the secessionist "Alaska Independence Party".
She obviously had her reasons for not placing her hand over her heart.

False. Obama does not always have his hand on his heart, but it's no big deal. Modern custom does not require it:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp#pledge

Plus, if that's all they have, they are really grasping.

Palin did not ban books but made an inquiry into book banning. You can still hit her on earmarks, The Bridge To Nowhere, and Troopergate stonewalling.

28. while Caribou Barbie never actually banned books, she certainly tried her best to do
just that.

So technically, if she says "I never banned books" she is right.........but the truth is she tried her darndest to do that, and even tried to fire the librarian for standing up to her.

29. Nothing anywhere in our laws requires anyone to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Period.
Among other things, one might argue that the "under God" part constitutes a de facto AND ILLEGAL religious "test".

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Shocking! Hokey Mom (no typo, she is about as hokey as it gets) Sarah Palin spits on every person who ever died in service to our country by steadfastly refusing to place her hand over her heart during the National Anthem!

35. Hey I'm just glad my dad is a dem now. My parents became
9/11 republicans.

well my dad's union basically got screwed out of a job.. now he is out of work for year and he woke up and realized how republicans are. I'm so happy for that! He said tonight he is voting straight democrat the rest of his life!!!

My mother on the other hand, is trying to sound neutral but I think she is voting for Palin.... because she is a woman. My mom voted for Hilary in the primaries.

She doesn't believe anything that I try to tell her that Palin has done ugh
