LTTE Generator
This came up in another thread, and I think it bears repeating.

You don't have to be a big-time donor to make a difference.
You don't have to be young and strong enough to canvass.

You can make a difference right now.

Write a letter to the editor. Several of them.

Below is a link to Democrats.org, which has a LTTE tool. You put in your zip code and if give you a list of all the local, regional, and national newspapers serving your area. Based on my 53045 zip code, I can reach the editors of sixteen newspapers with a single e-mailed submission.

Even if these editors don't print my letter, having 20,000 DUer's sending letters every single day will eventually change the narrative. Believe me, they keep track of what's coming in and use it to "take the temperature" of their readers.

Do it today. Do it tomorrow.

You can't blame the mainstream media if you don't tell them what on your mind.

2. I had an LTTE in yesterday's Milwaukee paper...

I actually received a call from a retiree (a former press operator for the Journal Sentinel) thanking me and telling me that he agrees completely. The letter blamed the financial meltdown on the very deregulation that John McCain opposes. Oops. I guess now he's in favor of it. Not to worry. He'll be opposed to it before the week is over.

Has anybody suggested the McCain might have multiple personality disorder? Palin, too.

I'm in favor of the bridge!
I'm against it!
I love earmarks!
I'm against them!

Geez. Maybe Obama and Biden should just stay home and those two could debate themselves.

Wanna make something of it?!

It's THAT important...

Here's the letter I just sent (it took me all of five minutes, thanks to some inspiration from another thread here on DU).

According to John McCain and the Republicans, we don't have enough money to provide healthcare for all Americans.

And a quality education for every child in this country? Too expensive. We couldn't possibly afford that.

And ensuring the long-term stability of Social Security and Medicare? Not enough in the bank account for that -- maybe turn it over to the private sector.

But we DO HAVE enough money to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. And we DO HAVE enough to bail out Bear Stearns and AIG. And the war in Iraq is costing us a trillion dollars.

No Problem. No Problem, that is, except for John McCain's priorities.

As Thom Hartmann says, "TAG, YOU'RE IT!"
