Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 12:51 AM by Lakerstan
Got to Cashman Field at 12:30 pm - stood in 90 degree sun for three hours, stood in rain for an hour, stood in sun for another two hours. BUT I GOT TO SHAKE HIS HAND TWICE AND I WOULDN'T CHANGE IT FOR THE WORLD!!!!

3. Lakerstan: I made a bunch of calls tonight to Nevada...
Tough crowd, some of us are coming there to canvas, etc., but we really, really hope you natives will get out the vote.

I'm holding you responsible :-) , you up to the task, soldier?

4. Nevada is apolitical mostly
You dont see many stickers at least here in las vegas for either party.

I was pleased with the crowd size today.

Wow coming to Nevada to canvas! Thanks we need the help.

5. That cross state/neighbor state strategy....
That's the crazy shit that makes a difference.

I'm gonna try to make the trip in October, we do Reno, LA folks do Vegas...

10. Ironic that you use the word "soldier"
Vegas is actually a pretty big military town, with Nellis AFB being on the outskirts. Many Mormons as well (good thing McCain didn't pick Romney).

The key issues here, as validated by the level of cheering in the crowd today:

- Ecomony (NV has extremely high foreclosures)
- Health Care (Lots of seniors and people without)
- Education (School system in Vegas sucks - I know that, and I don't even have kids)

We need to focus on those here, and we'll do well.

Also, there are some strong unions here - food workers union, gaming unions, etc. - mostly going for Obama.

Up north (Reno) is more conservative, but it's smaller in terms of population.

This state can swing either way - all going to be about getting out the vote.

11. Well it was 90 at 12:30. The peak is usually around 4pm
...and by then it was raining. The rain was actually welcomed as a cooling off by most there.

17. That last picture unnerved me...
The secret service is just too d*mned far away. I think I watched The Manchurian Candidate (the original one) a few too many times.
