Poll: Obama leading in Indiana 47-44 per Indianapolis Star
"Sen. Barack Obama holds a tenuous lead over Sen. John McCain in Indiana, with one in four likely voters saying they could change their mind on who to support for president, according to a new Indianapolis Star-WTHR (Channel 13) poll.

Obama's three-point lead in the poll, 47 percent to 44 percent, reinforces Indiana's status as a battleground in the race for the White House.

The poll, conducted Sunday through Tuesday by Selzer & Co. of Des Moines, Iowa, also revealed a geographic disparity between the two candidates: Obama, the Democrat, holds a 54 percent to 40 percent advantage in Indianapolis, but McCain, the Republican, leads in all other regions of the state, including Northwest Indiana."

Hold on to your hats folks. This could be a wild ride. (margin of error 4%)

2. I keep seeing visions of
1980 Reagan landslide. The stock market went skyward the next day. Remember watching screen of stocks going to the moon.

3. I keep posting that IN is going to surprise everyone! I'm working really hard along with many others
The Obama campaign is even opening an office up in my small red, red little town surrounded by rural area!!!! Our numbers look good here on the ground.

Tonight's canvass numbers:

The north side ROCKS! Now....if we can just get them to vote! ;) And I'm getting numbers like this every time we go out!

Total doors knocked: ~85

Strong Obama: 16
Lean Obama: 10
Undecided: 5
Lean McCain: 3
Strong McCain: 4

Not Home: 48
Moved: 13
Vacant: 2
Inaccessible: 3

Others not on list voting Obama: 3
Not Voting at all: 1
Registrations: 12 (7 new) <FYI--total around 61 new registrations from the Obama canvassers to date>

(not including the 10 strong Obamas/0 McCains I got on Sunday--don't have stats as Megan took that bunch before I could tally)

There was a sense of urgency for the need to change I got from the people I spoke with tonight, they sounded really concerned.

4. Get out! Yer kiddin' me! Indiana?
Indiana, that DOES surprise me. Whoa. And not even just tied, or anything, but several points...

Very encouraging (I know, it could slip back).

You're right about that "wild ride" feeling.

8. Can anyone put into context
the "Star" poll is of LVs, but the CNN poll with McPalin up by six was of RVs. I tended to trust RV polls on the concept that Dems will have the momentum going to the finish line and have a better ground game. But I'll admit to having been wrong at least once.

10. They're also not counting all the new RVs we've registered.

I think Hamilton County has registered 15,000 alone!

Nothing but pretty good news overall on the campaign trail. Hope it continues! The news that Obama is very close in North Carolina has me even more stunned. This could be the start of very good things.
