Media word of the day.... "Zingers!"
I've seen several different media anchors and reporters referring to Obama's best soundbites against McCain as "zingers!"

Maybe it's just me, but this seems to be a different narrative than what I've seen when reporting on Right Wing quips against any Democratic candidates. Pretty trivial, but hearing it from several reporters across channels makes me wonder where the language comes from.

1. It's a lame attempt to trivialize legitimate points..
Makes it sound like he's just pushing "punchlines" like a late night comic...

5. I agree with the OP and your responses ...
yes, it IS dismissive, and if it was McCain it would be HAMMERS or something stronger.

BUT, the OP is right in that even in a dismissive way, FOR THE MEDIA that is a POSITIVE frame for a D. BO has had 100 different and equally good "zingers" in the last three months, and they either ignor them or even more negatively frame them.

As sad as it is, them calling them Zingers is about as good as it gets.

3. I love zingers, Frosted cakes with creme fillings and Peanuts characters on the packages
I wish Obama had rolled out the zingers earlier.

4. However, it is encouraging with the debates coming up...
...to see Obama and Biden both working on their "sound bites". They could win us those debates!

7. No problem here: Dictionary.com - zinger, noun Informal. 1. a quick, witty, or pointed remark or...
retort: During the debate she made a couple of zingers that deflated the opposition.
2. a surprise, shock, or piece of electrifying news: The President's resignation was a real zinger.
3. a person or thing that has vitality or animation or produces startling results.

8. There is a great opportunity for film makers to make a nice documentary

on the media behavior in this election. There is so much material. When McCain says something stupid the headlines are always "McCain slams Obama" and the buffoons on cable news keep repeating the stupid Republican talking points.

When Obama says something of substance they are either ignored (to give space to frivolous bullshit) or dismissed as "zingers" or whatever.

Then I see AP and Politico.com headlines on Yahoo! and newspapers equating Obama to McCain's blunders like yesterday with the "McCain and Obama scramble to change their message on the economy" as if Obama is a buffoon like McCain.

Obama has to work against the McCain smears and the media smears as well. It is so fucking frustrating.

Liberal media my ass!
