Anybody seen Michelle in the news?
It almost seems as though she's been put in a 'time out' chair as far as the campaign is concerned. She was not at the Sept. 11th ceremony, and she should have been there. It looked weird that Cindy McCain was there and Michelle was not.

I know they had her focusing on military families - a great idea - and I saw she did that in Norfolk, VA. But where's she been? Or am I not just reading the right sources?

ER: I've been in the 'time out' chair. All women of substance have...

15. I haven't read the VA-Pilot yet.
They gave her good press when she was in Norfolk about a month ago.

The Richmond T-D is a right wing rag....

Folks on DU don't really link to articles about her as much.

20. The Wash Post isn't giving this any coverage. I hadn't seen any in the print edition...
and just scouted the website.

Sucks.

on Michelle.

This really pisses me off.

3. "she should have been there"? Once again you post a bullshit opening post obliquely trashing Obama
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 09:06 AM by cryingshame
it's your specialty.

Why should Michelle "have been there"?

Because McCain decided at the last minute to have his caretaker trophy wife there?

BTW, Michelle HAS been doing events. You are just ignorant and apparently unable to find the information.

But again, your opening post fold nicely into rightwing memes about Michelle.

It's a long-planned event AND a big deal.

27. Yes. There is a "My Wife is Always Proud of America" bumper sticker in my 'hood.
I think someone like this is unreachable and should be written off, but there are plenty of accessible folks who see this and might believe it, just as much of the US that somehow, STILL believes that McCain is a "maverick." Ugh!

6. Michelle was with her children 9/11
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/michael-m-bates/2008/09/12/abc-news-why-wasnt-michelle-obama-9-11-ceremony

Its funny how the tides have changed...I recall the years that the GOP would spew "foul" when women left their families for their careers, political or otherwise...now their golden girl is in running for VP, claiming to be superwoman and being presented that she'd be able to serve home and country...makes me wanna hurl...

8. Your post is flat wrong. Do you have the grace to admit it?
And just why the fuck should Michelle have been been at the 9/11 thing? Because almighty YOU thought it looked "weird"?

What a pile.

Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 09:15 AM by vaberella
I don't know when Palin's kids start school in Alaska. On Sept. 11th BO/MO's kids started school. She had to be there and prepare them. I don't even see why this is mentioned or there was a "should". 9/11 was not made a school holiday. It's seen as a regular day every where so the kids have to go to school.

she just doesn't get a lot of news coverage for her hard work...

but she is on People's Best Dressed list...
so we've got the important womanly issues covered.

14. This reminds me of letters ER used to get from friends...
saying, "I read about you in the paper and know what you wore for your speech but not what you talked about."

It's really sad how little things have changed for prez wives.

13. Wow. I would LIKE to see more of Michelle and backed her here a LOT and all I catch is SHIT...
from folks here.

If she has time to campaign, she should have been at the 9/11 ceremony.

She did a GREAT job in Norfolk with military families and I praised her here for doing so. She got some great press in the Virginian Pilot.

I think it's tough being a candidate's wife and not being a total doormat.

I WANT to see more of her.

You guys bring an emotion and defensiveness to these issues that makes a discussion impossible.

Sorry for asking. Fuck off.

Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 09:25 AM by ErinBerin84
I don't understand your logic....her kids started school that week, she resumed a more vigorous campaign schedule once her kids were settled at school. She didn't do other campaign events around that time, I'm sure, because she wanted to get her kids settled....she obviously felt the need to be with her kids. How is choosing to do that being in the "time out" chair. I'm glad that she felt the need to stay with her kids instead of using it as a campaign photo op like Cindy and John McCain.

23. Just because the media isn't covering her doesn't mean she's not there.
They're not great about featuring here. Also, her girls are back in school. Unlike the Palin family whose children are apparently raised by wolves while they run all over the Country, Michelle spends time with her kids.

25. I'm seeing that a lot of my media sources are ignoring her.
And I've asked friends, "you seen Michelle in the news?" and they're kind of blank too.

Even the folks at the local Obama office! They tell me to look on the website, but I shouldn't have to do that.

Thanks!
