Road Blog: Joe Biden on the Ohio Bus Tour
By Obama Road Blog - Sep 17th, 2008 at 11:55 pm EDT

This morning Joe Biden hopped on a bus and began a two day road trip through Ohio. At his first stop in the idyllic town of Maumee, Joe attended a community gathering in the middle of West Waine Street. Fifteen hundred folks gathered to hear the him speak, including the Maumee high school marching band -- sporting futuristic purple and black uniforms -- who entertained the crowd while they awaited his arrival.

While en route to Wooster, Ohio Joe made two local stops in the towns of Finely and Mansfield. First, Joe dropped in on the folks having lunch at Wilson's, the local diner. People were excited to see him, and the bright diner swelled to capacity within a few minutes. Joe sat down and talked to numerous people, then made his way to the counter to order a Wilson's specialty -- sugar pie. On his way out, Joe jumped behind the cash register to pose for a picture with the staff, then helped himself to some soft served ice-cream before jumping on the bus.

An hour later the bus made a stop at the Coney Island Diner in Mansfield, Ohio. He was instantly greated by Emily Brown, the mother of U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown from Ohio with a hug and a kiss. Emily escorted him into the diner where Joe chatted with local folks before ordering another ice cream. The Senator walked along the street for a moment, and then stopped into the town's historic carousel, at Richland Carrousel Park. At this point a small crowd had formed, and Biden spent several minutes shaking hands and speaking to folks about Senator Obama's policies.

A short drive later the bus arrived at the College of Wooster for a second community gathering. The collegiate setting was beautiful and the young crowd was very enthusiastic, entertaining themselves while they waited by chanting and doing the wave. Joe gave an inspirational speech that focused on making a change in this country for the next generation. He urged the students to think about what issues are going to affect their generation and to imagine a better world.

Enjoy the day in pictures.

21. He is good with kids. I bet McLame scares children.
My two daughters (3 and 4) prefer Barack and Joe as they are just friendly easy going guys. My daughters always tell me "that's Barack" when he comes on t.v. I think my older daughter is scared by McLame, she moves far away from the t.v. when he is on. LOL. She also likes Hillary cause "She's a girl". Not sure if she likes Palin, I try not to expose them to that nutball.

15. If I met him, after I thanked him for fighting to take our country back
from this eight year nightmare, I'd probably cry. And he's the type of guy who would hold you in his arms and shed a few tears himself, and reassure you he'll fight with all he's got. I KNOW he feels the same, as we all do, how this country and it's laws, it's reputation, have been savaged. He really does feel the pain.

Thank you Joe!!!
