McCrazy campaign holding Alaska state government hostage??
Being reported on Thom Hartmann's show right now, I believe this is coming from someone at the Anchorage progessive talk radio station.

4. A bunch of McCrazy operatives calling themselves the "Palin truth squad"
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 01:25 PM by Sebastian Doyle
Have moved in to suppress the investigation into Moosealini, Troopergate etc. Apparently they have even hijacked government phone lines so they control all information going in or out of the government. Not only is it Rovian and fascist, but a huge violation of the Hatch Act, which prohibits government offices/employees/resources from being used for campaign purposes.

And this is apparently led by a Bush Crime Family "anti-terrorism" prosecutor??? So what, now investigating Moosealini is TERRORISM?? :wtf:

18. How are they getting away with this???
Seriously... is there no one that is willing to call them on it? What about the Dems that are up there.. can't they do anything? This just seems almost surreal...

2. i have a friend who's well-placed in Juneau Dem. politics
and he says that EVERYONE is afraid to speak out on a national stage against Palin, as she's going to lose & come back to govern. she's vindictive, and they want to get things done. the only way is to stay off her enemies list.

its like junior high up there.

5. Oh jeez, I feel so horrible for those people. It's a lose-lose situation.
If they don't do anything to help to sink her VP prospects, she'd be unleashed on the entire US and if they stay quiet, she'll come back to make their lives just as bad. Man...

12. i'm not familiar with the Alaska State constitution
to know if a recall is possible. but given the conservative-big-talker-but-actually-welfare-queen mindset of the state, i highly doubt that they'd turn a GOP governor out during her term. especially one so purty who's "just like" the rest of its citizens. its GOP know-nothing territory up there.

she's in till 2010, minimum.

13. Well, right now, she's in violation of a federal law called the Hatch act.
Among whatever other crimes she may or may not be guilty of. That alone should be enough to get her thrown out of office.

14. I take personal offense at that.
You don't have any idea what's going on up here. People are outraged at the way McCain's campaign has swooped in here, attempting to meddle with our government and the legitimate investigation that was approved by a bipartisan committee of the legislature and apparently welcomed by Sarah Palin before her selection. While she may make it to the end of her term, I'm extremely doubtful that she'll be re-elected. You should be keeping up with the comments of Alaskans on the Anchorage Daily News blogs and letters.

9. Here's a link to the radio station.
http://www.kudo1080.com/

Right now he's interviewing an Alaskan senator who is describing what's going on. If you can stream a podcast or rerun of the Thom Hartmann it's really an eye opener.

So far what I have been able to deduce is that the McCain campaign has sent their own attorneys in to take over the troopergate investigation and issue press releases that are disingenuous at best.

And we're pretty pissed off about it. There's nothing that Alaskans hate more than Outside interference in our affairs. Now we've got a Justice Department anti-terrorism lawyer up here trying to stop the Troopergate investigation, and a bunch of idiots from the Liberty Legal Institute (Dobson's people - yuck) counseling the five asshole Republicans who sued to stop the inquiry.

The sad thing is that finally, after years of Republican rule up here, we were starting to see a little bit of bipartisanship, we were getting rid of the "Corrupt Bastards," the sun was finally starting to shine on all the political shadows, and now this. McCain has set this state back years, and Sarah is going to pay. She has lost all the good will that she had built up with the independents and Democrats over the past two years. She will pay.

They are shutting down the investigations. So much for freedom in this country.
