I saw an Obama sticker on a brand new Hummer this morning.
It left me dazed and confused. It was like one of those logic tricks that Spock used to make an evil computer blow up on Star Trek. Cannot compute! Cannot compute! Welcome aboard though. All are welcome here.

1. If that isn't an oxymoron.
But I agree, welcome aboard, unless it was some sort of joke on the hummer driver.

4. If it were in my part of Los Angeles, I'd figure the driver to be a
young rapper. Black. New money. Not too savvy about international politics or environmental issues YET. But an Obama fan because he's a bro.

8. This was in a bourgeois suburb if Indianapolis
Not a rapper in sight. It was interesting that it was brand new too. Still had the stickers on it. So it wasn't as if it was some poor sap who had seen the light but couldn't get rid of his horrible mistake of a vehicle purchase. Oh well. More power to him.

14. Bullshit.....don't assume...I have a 20 year old whose very knowledgeable
about politics and his support for Obama isn't just because he's black. Let go of your stereotypes.

17. Please don't presume to tell me what to think. I was talking about
MY assumption based on MY experiences here in LA. We have large numbers of up-and-coming blacks in the music industry here. They are OFTEN the ones driving the big SUVs (when it's not hockey moms). Until they've been around the block a few times, they can be socially naive.

You can have your theories about the guy in the Hummer. I'll have mine.

20. I didn't presume...you said it yourself....rapper, black, etc. Why couldn't
he have been just a normal person in a hummer with an Obama sticker. You said what you thought and what you presumed! Stereo typical bullshit! Every time my son is pulled over for no apparent reason...still hasn't gotten a ticket... yet he's asked if he's a rapper? He's a college student.

23. I can see it on a newer one ...
I mean, those are the ones (since 1984) which have been butt-ugly ... no real style ... just giving in to the idea that a mid-life crisis must include a Corvette ...

.... a blue one no less ....... made me smile ........ I wanted to wave it down and honk and pump my fist (hoping they'd see MY bumper stickers) but wanting to live to see election day, thought it best to continue my defensive driving techniques. :)

24. I put the hummer in a different category
I drive a truck myself. Plenty of people do. But generally I see the hummer driver as someone who isn't just buying an SUV, but making a political statement. It is like the VW van for the 40 something chickenhawk rightwing crackpot. "Look, it's like I'm in the military!" At least where I come from.
