I've just had the most unreal conversation about politics EVER
There's a young African-American man who works for me on occasion. He's very friendly and helpful and I've always gotten along well with him. Well, today the topic of the election came up and I'm still dragging my jaw along the ground --

He recited every right-wing bullshit talking point in the book -- all the lies: that Obama is Muslim, that he wasn't born here, etc, etc. No matter how I tried to correct him, he stubbornly insisted he knew he was right. This is a bright young man. He is out of work except for odd jobs. He comes from South Central. He knows about the inequities of the system. I'm just stunned.

I think I might have kicked the door in a little to let some light in but .... yeesh!

1. Wow - that's so sad. His candidate will do nothing to help out his situation.
I wonder how that happened?

2. So... I'm guessing he doesn't have health care, own a home...
Why are some people so insistant on voting against their own economic self interest?

My goodness. I just don't get this.

6. some people just don't get it
they'd rather believe the lies. Maybe it is easier for them after having voted for *. It weighs heavy on one's conscience I'd think so why not believe all of the new lies too?

My condolences!

7. There are always contrarians.
Sometimes they manifest out of strnage environments.

But, he's likely just a contrarian for the sake of it. Like somebody that hates the local sports team and routes against them. The fact that the local team gets all the attention and everybody loves them only fuels his hatred of them even more.

Doesn't make him a bad person. Just a bit of a non-conformist, just for non-conformities sake, rather than a non-conformist because of specific ideals.

There are quite a few in the world, but they are basically outliers on the graph and don't really affect the election.

11. I ran into a guy like that, just a few days ago.
Really well-spoken, well-dressed black guy on a bus.

Gave his seat to an elderly lady, too.

He got off at my stop, introduced himself, and just cranked it up.

I told him to take that crap on down the road.

15. Apparently he's not THAT bright.
Anyone in the position of working odd jobs has no business voting for repukes.

If you vote republican you are either rich or stupid.
