I think the minority vote is going to be what does it for Obama
Whenever I see the polls my first thought is did they poll minorities? I am betting very few.

Maybe because I am an old white lady who works in a minority community and I hear a growing enthusiasm daily for Barack Obama (especially this week, with the financial crisis ongoing), I really believe our minority voters are going to be the deciding factor in this election.

A lot of the people I am around all day have never voted but this year they can't wait. I talked to a man yesterday who was at least 60 and admitted to me he had never voted because "No offense, maam, but those white men don't represent me or my family". He has registered and is looking for volunteer opportunities.

That's another thing. Not only are they excited about voting, they want to help in any way they can.

Yesterday I heard something about a Spanish language ad Obama has out that is upsetting McCain. I can't find an English translation but I would love to hear it. Obama is smart to target hard hitting ads at Hispanics. The Hispanics I know are not happy with the treatment they are getting from Republicans. It doesn't help that the MO governor has come down hard on the undocumented in the state. That has upset the Hispanics who are citizens and can vote.

Anyway, I don't think any of our media is paying enough attention to minority voters. And I really think they can win this for Obama.

Anyone agree?

1. I think It will Be a Majority Vote in Every Sense of the Word
The only people voting for McCain will be the incompetents.

3. Thank you for an inspiring post.
Typically these are the voters that stay home, or that the GOP works hard to stop from voting. The Obama campaign is already fighting voter suppression in Michigan, and I have hope that they will fight GOP attempts in other states. If the minority vote shows up in huge numbers, fraud or not, McSame is toast.

4. I think the minority vote will be a huge contributor to Obama's win,
and I also believe there are a lot of new voters, registered and voting for the first time, who are flying under the radar right now, and aren't being polled.

With the economic uncertainty, the wars, foreclosures, high gas and food prices, etc., I think people want CHANGE now more than at any time in recent history. And we all know change voters normally gravitate toward the party that doesn't occupy the White House.

Plus, the whole thing with McSame and Palin is just too strange...they look more like something from a SNL skit than actual people running for office.

5. The last two Dems to win the presidency had massive minority turnout
Carter and Clinton both had great support in the African American community.
