3. Haha.
This has to be due to recent economic news--otherwise it would have stagnated at about 48-44 or 45.

11. In a larger sense
Recent economic news has eclipsed the non-stop barrage of McSame/Failin' distractions and returned the spotlight to serious issues.

As long as the issues are front and center, Obama wins!

5. Just like after the Dem Convention. Hopefully it stays like this
until the first debate when America sees how good Obama is and Gallup goes over 50 and McDole is history

18. The first debate is foreign policy. Expect a lot of "OBAMA SAID THE SURGE
WASN'T WORKING BUT IT IS WHY IS YOU NOT ADMIT MISTAKE MISTER OBAMA" and John McCain saying "I WILL KILL RAGHEADS" and getting thunderous applause.

First debate's a no-win for us unless McCain loses his temper or makes a gigantic mistake.

19. McCain also said before the war...
That we would need less than 100,000 troops to do the job. It was in an MSNBC interview, so I have only seen the transcript recently referred to on line.

If you keep guessing, maybe one of your guesses works out okay. I've never understood the whole "surge = success" stuff. Even if you buy the argument (which is overly simplistic), it just reinforces that the current administration and its mouthpieces (i.e. McCain before the war) screwed up the war to begin with and didn't have enough troops on the ground to secure the peace after the mission was "accomplished"

9. Strong day yesterday! Also, according to the commentary, they question how
the stock market rally will affect the coming days. Hmmm...yesterday, the DOW ended up over 400 points and he had a strong polling day, so I don't see how he'll fall due to the govt. bailout.

14. So, that works out...
...to a daily tracking poll average of Obama +4.3. Not too shabby, although I'd sure like to know why McCain picked up 3 points in Diego/Hotline...and why Rasmussen keeps upping its weighting of Republicans any time it looks like McCain may actually be losing...

23. The Hotline Poll Is A Relatively Small Sample
Could be noise...

One thing about Gallup is they have enormous resources to draw upon when they conduct a poll...No other polling organization that I am aware of can come close...

20. I think we can squeeze out one more point tomorrow on the 3 day tracking
but then it's probably going to level out for a while.

So if we can keep this at a 5-8% lead until next Friday's debate, we'll be looking good going in.

Obama will not even look back into his rear view mirror from this point forward.

35. I don't see anyone criticizing Gallup in this thread
When McCrank was leading the Gallup poll a few weeks ago, all we would see in the threads, "Gallup is RW, inaccurate, etc etc". So when they go our way, they are magically accurate? It's a DU tradition: Polls are only valid when they go our way, no matter the source.
