I don't think I've seen so many protesting against a VP candidate before?
but I don't remember hundreds of people with banners protesting against a VP candidate in a Presidential election in the past? Is this correct?

1. What makes this even more impressive - she's their Governor!

5. Indeed.

I don't remember ever hearing of a VP candidate LOSING popularity in their own state after their nomination, but that's exactly what's happening here. Letters to the editor are running approximately 60% against her.

17. No.
And I want to personally thank John McCain for educating us. Without him, we would have continued on our merry way, thinking she was sane.

4. It wasn't totally blacked out.
It was reported in the Anchorage Daily News. We were out of town that night, so I don't know if it was reported on TV.

6. Cloudy and cool.
 Seriously, a lot of people here, across the board, are fast becoming disenchanted. I'm thinking one term.

7. With the current momentum, Alaska should begin a" Recall Governor Palin Immediately" petition drive.
Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 05:30 PM by Blaze Diem
Don't know the Rules in Alaska for such a recall, but maybe its a possibility.
If for nothing else, the ethics violations and family cronyism (TODD) Palin has brought to the state government.
Exposing herself in the VP race brought to light her baggage that she could have easily kept Alaskans from knowing about, had she stayed where she was.

Now that the truth is out about the Gov., Alaskans have every right to petition for the removal of Palin's title of Governor.

Start Now. Get & Keep Palin from ever being appointed to anything with Alaska's honorable name on it.

8. I'm sure something like this will pop up.
So many here are extremely angry. We're notorious for disliking outside interference in our affairs, so with McCain's goon squad coming in here and basically taking over our government, Alaskans - from the most conservative conservatives to the most leftist progressives - are highly torqued. You wouldn't believe the strange alliances that are being formed. If someone had told me a month ago that Lyda Green would be hailed in the progressive blogs as a heroine, I would have probably died laughing -- but that's indeed what has happened. It's just bizarre.

10. Thank you
Your posts have given me, a transplanted NYer in Georgia, a very honest and detailed look at this situation from an Alaskan perspective.

Whenever a Palin thread pops up, I hope to see your take on it

But I think that a disproportionately busted doll is more qualified than McCain's third Beer Broad.

12. Thats because we've never had a Pres candidate that was 72 before.
People are forced to accept that she could actually just end up as President. And people are rightly horrified.

19. she is the one running not mccain.
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 09:08 AM by seabeyond
this is a lot like 2000, only 10x's more so. people were concerned about bush, but cheney, ... oh he gave the people confidence.

mccain was dead in the waters, it is palin that is running

yes, the race is with palin and mccain campaign is making it clear. we thought it was an ooops her saying my partner, my running mate, palin and mccain.... but she has done it so often i would say mccain is doing this on purpose to put palin out there and htey are one, equal, not a bosss employee situation.

20. How many VP "candidates" have we had like HER?
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 09:36 AM by butlerd
Well, there was Quayle I suppose but I guess he was in the Senate for a few years before so he had had some "national exposure" before whereas Palin has only had "northern exposure" (well, except for the fact that she can see Russia from where she is).
