The Photo Every Republican Wants Us to Forget
Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 09:52 PM by Khaotic

Great Scott!!! A Democratic President of the United States, and what's that he's doing??!!

Time to look at the headlines from that time and check it out!

Statement on the Treasury Department's Debt Buyback
March 9, 2000

Today we reached another historic landmark in our fiscal turnaround. For the first time in 70 years, the U.S. Treasury Department completed a "debt buyback." This buyback of debt is a striking reminder of the extraordinary progress we have made in putting America's fiscal house in order. In the last 7 years, we moved from the largest deficit in history to the largest surplus in history.

America is now on track to pay down nearly $300 billion in debt by the end of this year and to be debt-free by 2013. In this new era of surpluses, these "debt buybacks" will help us continue to pay down the debt, save money for American taxpayers, and lift the burden of interest payments off our children and grandchildren.

--------------------------

Rethugs we have something to tell you ...

K&R to show your support to get another Democratic President in the White House so we can see a rerun of that story once again!

But YOU know tell anyone who supports McSame that 3 Bush II, Bush I and Reagan ALL handed American HUGE deficits and only Clinton was able to turn it around.

Carter of course had to deal with an Oil Crises and a Hostage Crises.

in the private lives of others and no infantile and uptight views on sexuality by most of the U.S. citizenry, no eight years of Bush. That IS the sad truth and this is not a party issue as there are also Democrats, albeit fewer than Republicans, who froth at the mouth because Clinton was 'getting some'.

14. Gore should have never conceded
Gore should have challenged the authority of the Supreme Court in determination of the election and refused to concede. It should have been a constitutional issue and he should have demanded that the law be followed in regard to the state's autonomy in regard to voting especially in setting aside the Florida Supreme Courts authority. Insurrection would have been less costly than the past eight years of the PNAC neo-cons destruction of our nation. The Supreme Court justices that handed Bush the election are not independent defenders of the Republic but its worse enemies. Americans should piss on their damn graves.

18. Perhaps, but
it would have been better to never have been in that situation in the first place. As it was, Gore had to distance himself from Clinton in the campaign, and was tainted by the whole thing in any event. If Clinton keeps it zipped, it's a pretty sure bet that Gore wins. Funny how seemingly silly and insignificant things can alter the entire course of history.

20. Yeah, but ...

Unless you're going to develop the flux capacitor, we can't focus on the impact of Bill's zipper.

What we can focus on is the success of what a Democrat in the White House can do for the country.

That's the significance of the photo w/ Clinton.

Truthfully, I don't think I've seen that photo here at DU for a very long time ... why?

I mean, if the Rethugs had a track record like that, you can bet there would be billboards with it.

Fucking dust off the photo and make it part of today's campaign. It says a lot about the valid reason to put a Democrat back in the White House.

Are we going to do this or what?

Come along follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me HOPE, give me strength
Come with me and I won't steer you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
To the light at the end of the tunnel
We gonna fight, we gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march
Through the swamp, we gonna MOSH through the marsh
Take us right through the doors ... C'mon!!!

Back to Prosperity!

Lieberman was one of the first and most vocal critics of Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair. I'm pretty certain that Gore would not have felt pressured to pick Lieberman as his VP otherwise.

but nothing there was nothing else that he did during his administration that they could have made stick. And of course, it wasn't the blowjob..it was (as always) the lying about it afterwards that got him in the biggest trouble. But if he'd kept his pants zipped, there would have been nothing to commit perjury over, and his enemies wouldn't have been able to do anything but gnash their teeth.

71. Nuance: Clinton was more popular than Gore. Gore should have used him in campaign.
No evidence Clinton's penis had anything to do with Gore's defeat.

Clinton's penis and brain were more popular than Gore.

Gore got screwed, but he also was not the inspiring candidate he would have been in this cycle. Surveys and focus groups we did showed support for Gore a "mile wide and an inch deep." Intensity levels of support were actually much higher for Bradley - and McCain than for both Bush and Gore.

Democrats did not fight for Gore in Florida as Republicans fought for Bush.

We are looking at a corporate republican controlled government

Here at DU back during the primaries and I had to hold onto it.

It's worth a thousand words.

Our generation needs this for us and all the generations to come. Just like the song ...

I won't be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We're not just making promises
That we know, well never keep.

Too many men
There's too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can't you see
This is a land of confusion.

Now this is the world we live in
And these are the hands were given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for.

61. Actual data
Wow, that's a good link, with actual data. This is the kind of information politics needs if we ever hope to make political science a real science. We have as a society conducted economic policy experiments over the past several decades. This data shows the Republican experiments failed to achieve their hypothesized goals, and the Democratic experiments worked out much better.

And that should trump all the political theorizing that candidates, operatives, pundits, and supporters typically engage in.

Yet it seems like we keep having the same arguments over and over again. The experimental data should lead us to real progress. But the human tendency to deny reality and substitute unfounded belief seems to thwart this.

I find this disappointing and frustrating. Especially when things happen like the "re-election" of GW Bush. Please show me there is hope and elect Barack Obama. He is the first Presidential nominee in my voting lifetime who seems to have any of the "vision thing."

We all need ...

One man one goal one mission
One heart one soul just one solution
One flash of light yeah one God one vision

One flesh one bone
One true religion
One voice one hope
One real decision
Gimme one vision

No wrong no right
I'm gonna tell you there's no black and no white
No blood no stain
All we need is one world wide vision

One flesh one bone
One true religion
One race one hope
One real decision
Oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah

I had a dream
When I was young
A dream of sweet illusion
A glimpse of hope and unity
And visions of one sweet union
But a cold wind blows
And a dark rain falls
And in my heart it shows
Look what they've done to my dreams

So give me your hands
Give me your hearts
I'm ready
There's only one direction
One world one nation
Yeah one vision

No hate no fight
Just excitation
All through the night
Its a celebration wowowowo yeah

One one one one...
One vision...

One flesh one bone
One true religion
One voice one hope
One real decision

Gimme one light
Gimme one hope
Just gimme
One man one man
One bar one night
One day hey hey
Just gimme gimme gimme gimme ...

We have to remember and we can't forget.

This is how we remind the Nation why a Democrat must be elected back into the White House.

That is the image that people need to see again.

If someone has the PhotoShop skills, it would be interesting to see a version that has where the debt is today, then go for it.

Hell ... if your PhotoShop skills a freakin' sick, then I say recreate the scene from Back to the Future II, w/ Marty and the Doc in the library. You remember, where the Doc is explaining to Marty via a chalkboard what happened to the timeline, and how there are two 1985s.

Well, if you have mad PhotoShop skills, extend the photo so it reflects how high the debt is today, and create a second timeline w/ Shrub drawing a red line off of President Clinton's blue line up to where ever the fuck the debt is today ... 10 or 11 trillion isn't it?

PhotoShop excellence? Show off your stuff!!

50. Link to the photo?
You only need to right click on the photo and bring up the properties to see the URL for the link.

From there you should be able to use it when ever and where ever you like.

Here's to us, by God!

To us, and that...

...and privileges of youth.

Here's to us and what we were.

And what we'll be.

And what we'll be.

I missed this up til now.
We've lost our real power and independence by being so in dept, in so many ways.
"Conservatives" have really lost their minds completely.
