y Aaron Barnhart | Kansas City Star

Considering that the largest audience in six years had tuned in to watch "Saturday Night Live," many of them curious to see what kind of treatment Sarah Palin would get on the show, and considering that Tina Fey is not exactly known for her characters (unless you count Liz Lemon, her "30 Rock" character, who may just be Fey channeling her single-gal years), it's pretty impressive that Fey was able to meet or exceed expectations with her dead-on (if Upper Midwest-sounding) impression of Sarah Palin on "SNL" last weekend.

That said, you wonder if anyone, anyone changed their presidential preference after that performance. Wait, I'll answer that in a word: no. Not one person changed their mind based on Tina Fey. Anyone think she's voting Republican? Think she's voted Republican in her life? The whole sketch was designed as catharsis for Hillary-supporting Democrats ... like Tina Fey.

1. Does anyone actually expect SNL to change votes?
Not really the point of SNL - it's comedy and satire...

You'd think, what with it being on air since the mid 70's, that folks would remember it's a comedy show, albeit, in recent years, hardly recognizable as such...

2. Being satire, it *does* hold that power ...
... especially in this age of feckless news media. People are more likely to get objective political coverage from SNL, TDS and Colbert than from the network or cable news.

3. As a Hillary supporter during the primaries....
I had to admit I loved Amy's impression of Hillary in that skit. A lot.

After seeing it I looked up a few other Tina Fey videos, and saw her Weekend Update where she proudly proclaimed that "Bitch is the new black!"

As a woman who reclaimed the word "bitch" when I had to learn to stand up for myself, and my boyfriend at the time recommended that I learn from a very strong female friend of his family "how to be a bitch", I appreciated it.

Speaking of the whole Palin accent thing... is it normal for Alaskans to drop ALL of their Gs?

I had a friend who moved down to Arkansas from Alaska and he never, EVER dropped his Gs. But then again I think he made a strong effort not to pick up a Southern accent.
