Hot Damn x 3!!! From Camp Obama to Phone-Banking - It Warms The Heart
Last week, I posted about my two days at Camp Obama. Apparently, the LA area is doing another Camp Obama this weekend. They only can fit 200 people. They had 900 applicants. A sign of the times.

In Camp Obama, as you break into your grassroot teams, one of the big tasks is to set up a phone bank for the week. A phone bank can be set up anywhere there is good cell phone reception. Our goal was to get 20 people to come and help us make phone calls/do data collection for the campaign.

We were feeling pretty good that we'd hit our goal of 20 people. We each had invited a friend. And we made some phone calls to potential volunteers from a list that the campaign gave us. How many people showed up today?

OVER SEVENTY PEOPLE!

It was AMAZING. We flew through the phone calls and raced to get more lists. But more importantly, the community of people there who all wanted to know what else they could do - I'm still feeling buzzed over it. I'm convinced we will see 80 - 90% of those people come back next week. And I bet some of them bring their friends. I can't describe how good I feel about today. Magical.

So let me make this one last point.

For the past month, I've been telling my friends that they should have faith in Obama's strategy. I told them about the amazing registration efforts. I told them about Obama's legendary ground game.

And then it hit me. How do I know what I'm saying is true? What if I'm just passing along inaccurate talking points?

So I decided to find out. And what did I find out?

You, me and everyone on this board - WE ARE OBAMA'S GROUND GAME.

WE ARE OBAMA'S GROUND GAME. It's riding on us.

Get involved. Do something. Your action will effect many more than you realize. And the positive energy will come back to you ten-fold. DO IT!

1. Yes! It's less about Barack now than it is about US! It's up to us.
Just went out registering voters. Most people were already registered, but a lot of enthusiastic voters stopped by the booth, bought buttons & bumper stickers. The best cure for depression and fear is taking action!

2. I'm starting to realize - NOTHING happens without volunteers.
There are only so many people in office and on the staff of all of the local campaigns. The majority of the work being done is by volunteers, and if they weren't there, who knows where we would be now?

I went to the opening of the Obama Central Texas Office in Austin today, and got to hear several of my local representatives speak, and signed up to volunteer.

Thanks for everything you're doing, and good luck!

4. Thank you for all you are doing.
I agree that it is a wonderful feeling. When I come home after volunteering for canvassing and/or phone banking, I feel a sense of satisfaction and a "high."

6. we need more poll workers too
That is really an important job. That is where they either help the voter or make it difficult.
