Swift Boater Bob Perry has been pouring money into tort reform
Is anyone aware that Shit Boat lead contributor Bob Perry has a serious honus on for attorneys like John Edwards?

He has spent buckets of money in Texas to push for tort reform -- allegedly because his homebuiding company has been deluged with lawsuits resulting from shoddy home construction performed by his company.

What if this whole Swift Boat effort is a "bank shot" move and Edwards is the real bogeyman that keeps him up at night?

1. Funny - he doesn't care that his top dog, John O'Neill, is a trial lawyer
John O'Neill and his firm are tort lawyers and represent plaintiffs. But what makes them acceptable is that the plaintiffs THEY represent are large corporations who are suing other large corporations.

And, of course, large corporations who have lost money as a result of the behavior of other large corporations are so much more deserving of respect, representation and recovery than little girls who have been grievously injured as a result of the behavior of large corporations.

2. Who on Bush's team isn't a lawyer?
Bush got into the White House by suing, using lawyers.

The fact that Democrats haven't even made that point shows how much our side sucks at strategy.

4. Actually, Dems have frequently made that point
You're confusing the press' lack of coverage with our lack of a strategy. Not the same thing.

5. If it doesn't work, it's a failed strategy - it's that simple!
We aren't good at strategy if the strategies we choose don't work.

If we don't realize that by now, then we'll keep on losing.

6. OK - so what is YOUR strategy for getting Democrats more airtime for
such comments?

3. Bob Perry gets sued a LOT
He settles out of court a LOT, too. Pending suits were listed online a few weeks ago when his smear group got going.
