Arnold Schwartzenegger reminded me of a son of a Nazi...
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 06:08 PM by kentuck
Indeed, from what I have heard, his father was a Nazi. when I saw all those ARNOLD signs in the crowd last night, they looked like swastikas to me...Then when Arnold spoke, he didn't sound like middle America. They can build up Arnold as much as they want. He didn't fight for this country. His claim to fame is Conan the Barbarian. I was not impressed with his performance. I was embarrassed. A "barbarian" seems to be the perfect leader for the future Republican Party.

2. In all fairness, I know the daughter of a Nazi officer.
He wasn't any better to her or her mother than he was to the Jews or others. She's a woman of traditional German character: she WILL get you organized in two minutes, but she ain't no Nazi. She's a good and loyal friend.

Bush, who is the grandson of a mere Nazi banker, however, is a fascist to the marrow of his bones.

3. I feel sorry for his daughters, having to sit with all these RNC loonies
I'd be willing to bet money their political sympathies lie with the Kennedy side of the family.

I'd like to know how Maria reconciles all this with herself.

4. Remember
When he was running for Governor they pulled up an old interview with
some magazine dating back to when he was Mr. World, or whatever,
in which he said he admired Adolph Hitler because he had such power
and control when he spoke to the crowds. Last night I bet he was
thinking - now I know how Hitler felt. I still don't know how
he has the balls to call anyone "girlie boys" when he's had more
plastic surgery than Maria.

8. while it is wrong to speculate....
I know from two very close male friends who were into body building (yeach, I know) for many years, homosexuality is pretty rampant, but because of the machismo, they don't construe it as "homosexuality," but something I suppose akin to conquest (?) or experimentation (?)

I never did get it, but there seems to be a denial thing going. The bulked up bodies seemingly fuel both the phenomenon and the excuse factor for why it isn't "true homosexuality." Adding to the paradox was a real nasty homophobia-- at least according to my friends (both hetero, as far as I know) during body building events in the 1970s and early 80s.

If true, it does make one wonder if the Gropenator may not have taken part and if his overtly derogatory insinuations re: the masculinity of his opponents at the same time he professes to support homosexual rights, does cover a larger personal issue.

5. I think he will have a awkward family get together

at the next Martha's Vineyard function.

Ted Kennedy served with Hubert Humphrey and I'm sure they have
shared values... and I doubt he liked the Gropenfurhers speech
last night.

6. Arnold "Admired Hitler"
The joke out here was that Karl Rove had said that "Arnold is pro-gay, pro-choice and pro-environmental protection...and that it's a good thing his father was a Nazi, or else he wouldn't have anything to do with him."

11. Yes...I thought the same thing...and Maria Shriver didn't look too well,
either...Hard to be a Kennedy married to "Son of Nazi." I didn't think he did well in that speech. It was offensive to me..but our Dem pundits like DeeDeeMyers seemed to think he was very appealing and love his "Girly Man Economics" jab. They seemed to feel it was as DeeDee said, "just injecting laughter in to politics for the Dems to laugh at themselves." Yeah right, DeeDee...I was breaking up laughing over AHNOLDS joke about our failing economy....:-(
