Zell Miller vs Barack Obama; let the people decide
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 09:30 PM by xray s
We now have a clear choice between the politics of hate and smear and small-mindedness and the politics of hope and vision and inclusiveness.

The keynote speeches of the RNC and the DNC place in stone the differences between the Republicans and Democrats.

One thing is for sure. In politics, when you are behind, you go negative. In that case, Bush must be way, way behind, because he has orchestrated one of the most negative, vile hateful conventions this country has ever seen.

And another thing is for sure. As a Democrat, I can hold my head up high and be proud of my candidates for President and Vice President.

1. Well Obama
didn't get network coverage. Zell did. I wish Obama had a bit wider coverage.

Of course Ghouliani and McCain didn't get the network coverage which is probably better because I think those two are more popular.

Miller probably comes off as a shril crack pot, though I couldn't stomach actually watching him. I've made it a point to boycott the RNC and all the media coverage.

3. I have a dear friend

who was so jubiliant over Obama, Clinton, the Kerry kids et al, and the Era of Good Feelings that was the DNC convention.

A loyal Democrat, she felt obligated to know her opposition by watching the RNC this week. Just to see what we would be up against. Just to stay informed.

And today she checked into a psych ward. The bile, venom, mendacity and disgenuousness got the best of her. She was not in the best of health to begin with, but this hatefest pushed her over the edge.

Don' t know where those without health insurance will go as the week wears on.

Godspeed to my dear friend and other like her, who are too good for this world.

4. I hope your friend
makes a full and speedy recovery.

I made it a point not to watch the convention because I knew it would make me angry and raise my blood pressure. I figured I didn't need that. The only footage I saw was the Bush twins (because it was non political and it was so pathetic), Daily Show coverage, and the Zell Miller-Chris Matthews interview which was truly something.
