Poll Shows McCain Still Favored on Foreign Policy

Heading into the first scheduled presidential debate, Senator John McCain is seen by voters as more capable on national security and more knowledgeable about foreign policy, the focus of the debate, than is Senator Barack Obama, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll. But the discussion at Friday’s debate, if it takes place despite Mr. McCain’s relunctance to confirm that he would appear, is sure to turn to the pressing and immediate problems posed by the faltering economy and on that score, Mr. Obama outpaces Mr. McCain...

Mr. Obama though, has made some gains in recent weeks on other foreign policy measures. He now runs closer to Mr. McCain in trust to handle foreign policy issues in general, after trailing by 11 points in August. Most voters think Mr. McCain will continue George W. Bush’s foreign policies — – a score on which the president is broadly unpopular. ....

3. Americans think wearing the military uniform automatically gives you
foreign policy expertise and national security creds.

Never mind that Captain McCain has been wrong on many vital foreign policy issues.

I guess the Obama campaign will release more ads asking voters whether they really want four more years of the disastrous Bush foreign policies.

4. Do not invest any emotions in the polls....You can be sure they are not
accurate reflections of what is going on...
I took a statistics course in College, and one of the first things that the prof told us was that statistics can be made to say whatever you want them to say..he then proceeded to show us exactly how it can be done.
