Obama Campaign: "ITS A POLITICAL STUNT-MAKE NO MISTAKE-MCCAIN DID NOT SUSPEND HIS CAMPAIGN"
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 07:16 PM by kpete
John Mccain is not going to get away with this stunt he pulled.
The Obama campaign just sent this memo out:

John McCain sought to change the subject from his out-of-touch response to the economic crisis with a big announcement that he was "suspending" his campaign. But the only thing McCain really wants suspended is the American people's disbelief. In fact, he's been in full campaign mode the entire time.

Instead of heading to Washington right away, Senator McCain stuck around in New York to do TV interviews, spend the night, and give a scheduled speech. Though the McCain campaign announced yesterday that they were also "suspending" their attack ads, they continued to run Thursday.

When McCain finally arrived in Washington, almost twenty-four hours after his announcement – and after Congressional leadership announced a deal in principle – he huddled with his lobbyist campaign advisors while his running mate held a political rally and his political spokesmen and surrogates were out in full force, continuing to attack Barack Obama.

So make no mistake:

John McCain did not "suspend" his campaign. He just turned a national crisis into an occasion to promote his campaign.

It's become just another political stunt, aimed more at shoring up the Senator's aimed more at shoring up the Senator's political fortunes than the nation's economy. And it does nothing to help advance this critical legislation to protect the American people during this time of economic crisis.

4. What television channel is the Obama camp saying this on-using this language?
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 07:20 PM by Dr Fate
Is the campaign making these pointed accusations on TV, or is this just internet text that swing-voters will never see?

Great stuff, but I need to see it being said on TV.

And have been doing so for about 4 years or so.

Rather than getting an answer, I'm usually just accused of "DEM bashing" or treated to conspiracy theories aboout how they are "not allowed on TV" instead.

51. to be fair, I think McCain typically does have good debating skills
he was willing to debate people in town meeting settings, which is really different from Bush et al, who were always unwilling to talk to anyone who didn't agree with them. I think Obama is much more eloquent, however.

THat being said, it should be interesting to see. (I hate watching political debates, myself)

58. He has skill ... but his platform is devoid of substance ...
... how does he get up on stage and debate all of Obama's facts and ideas when McLame's own campaign is based on fluff, innuendoes and soundbytes? Can you see Obama laying out a detailed plan of action on any issue and having McCain counter with simply "I was a POW" ... cause that's pretty much all he's got to offer.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been watching the hearings on C-SPAN, and the developments all week.

McC's lying only works on the woefully uninformed... which unfortunately is 40% of the voters, and McC crassly counts on that.

If he wins, we'd be electing a total fraud openly presenting himself AS a total fraud. That should go well, huh? :sarcasm:

At this point Dems should just step back from rescuing this bailout and let the Repubs screw it up however they want to, and just vote "present" on it. Let them have their way and let it hit the fan, and the election will be a referendum on it. It's a Repub disaster, let the Repub geniuses handle it with more Repub philosophy and blow it. If that finally ends deregulation as a mantra forever, it might be worth it.

He figures at this pace his poll numbers will continue falling, Palin has turned into a complete joke, Obama will win on Economy and that issue isn't going any where, tomorrow was to be his war mongering night, etc.. His campaign is falling apart.

If he takes all of the attention on this and makes it out like he saved the day, some people might believe that shit.

And he's banking on it.

McCain campaign plans to blame Dems and Obama on problem, that Dems want to help Wall Street and McCain came to White House to save America from that problem, which is one reason a few Repubs, plus McCain put on this stunt. 50. Can I ask a question here?
McCain's in his 70s. He's a tough old boar - that's certain. But what would happen now if under the stress of all this, his ticker quit or he had a massive stroke - BEFORE the elections??? WHAT would happen??? Certainly the GOP wouldn't let Palin move up. To do so would be like hanging themselves. But WHO (assuming they'd nominate someone) would be tapped to step in? Cheney? Rudy? Mitt? Bhoener?

Certainly they COULD NOT postpone the election(s). Logistically, it would be catastrophic to do so. So WHAT WOULD happen if McCain keeled over before November 4th???

57. Good Question
I've often wondered that myself. I don't think we've ever had that problem in history before, so it'd be new ground. Also, *BIG IF* say McMoron does pull out a cheating win in Nov., but kicks off before Jan. when he can take the oath and such. What then? Does #2 automatically move up or is there some kind of process to it? I'm just curious about that cause once again, I don't think its ever happened before.

I wonder about odd things like that when I'm bored... lol

60. Based on McCain's actions thus far it's clear he would run this nation
like a series of David Blaine stunts. One senseless daredevil stunt after another without fear of recourse for America or Americans.

And let's not even mention his Palin stunt. In the few interviews McCain's campaign dared allow her to participate in, it is abundantly clear that Palin is more incompetent than even I imagined.

I cannot believe that America will elect this dangerous duo. I refuse to believe it. For God's sake, America, haven't we had enough of incompetent Republican rule? Look at where the Republicans have brought us and please wake up to the facts.

this whole thing has been a setup. Bush has a plan we all have to get behind and then we try to reach across party lines just at the time the repug 'miraculously' refuse something Bush is trying to push through and on McCain's 'wings' they bring out their own Non-Bush solution, because you know they all are such Mavericks now. What a bunch of balony. They must think we Americans are stupid. It's not even fit for a direct-to-dvd movie plot.

We wont let them get away with it.

65. Can I ask again if Obama people ever said these great things on TV or not?
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 05:07 PM by Dr Fate
Is this just internet text for the base, or did they say these exact phrases & pointed accusations (and not polite, watered down versions) on TV for the swingvoters to hear?

If so, is was it pointed & exciting enough to make to You-Tube so I we can see waht the swing-voters saw?
